Postage came off Royal Mail parcel

I sent a parcel via Royal Mail for an item I sold on EBay. The buyer had to pay £7.00 as the postage sticker came off in transit.

Does anyone know how I claim that back off RM? Their website doesn’t help.

if you don’t have any proof of purchase

bugger all you can do

SevenWeeks · 11/01/2025 15:46

Do you have the receipt for when you paid the postage?

saveforthat · 11/01/2025 15:46

I suppose it depends if you have any proof that you bought the postage.

TwentyTwentyFive · 11/01/2025 15:50

Do you have proof of postage even if it's just a bank statement showing you paid the £7? Otherwise honestly there isn't much they can do except refund the buyer the postage. Royal Mail are unlikely to refund you though especially when it sounds like such unlikely scenario.

This happened to us when we bought fancy envelopes. The vast majority of stamps came off the envelopes in the mail and the receivers all had to pay to get their post. :-( Unless you have proof of postage, I don't think you'll be able to do anything about this.

How have you been notified that the address label has come off?
I ask because i had a scam text the other day which pretty much said the same thing.

I’ve been sent a photo of the unopened parcel with a yellow “no postage” sticker on it. I always keep the proof of postage until the buyer confirms safe receipt.

so all good

i recently got £20 from royal mail (max compensation) because my parcel had been lost. why? because i had a tracking number because of purchase on line. All very straightforward

I’ve been where you suggested at @GinBlossom94 . There’s no option for “the postage that I paid for fell off in transit”.

It now turns out I’ve got to go to the post office next week to do an Amazon return, so I’ll ask at the counter.
