Anyone want to join?

I've decided this has got to be the year. I'm fed up of being fat. I've just weighed myself for the first time in 6 months and I'm pretty horrified.

It starts today. I've downloaded my fitness pal to track my calories and I'm going to hopefully start some fitness classes soon.

If anyone wants to join me and keep each other motivated feel free!

I'm 5'5 and current weight is 13st 12lbs, BMI of 32.

Oooh I'm up for this. I'm currently 189 pounds...which is my heaviest weight 😭 I am starting a running course next weekend and would also like to start calorie counting.

I'm in.

The grand plan is a lb a week for the whole of 2025.

I am not comfortable sharing my current weight but I'm 5ft 2in and a size 18-20.

I'm currently +2.5lbs on my last December weigh in (which was 14th December) but I've been off piste for almost a month. I also went back to sugar for 2 weeks over the festive period.

Main plan of action for me is to have no refined sugar as I find it triggers overeating. So I'm off all biscuits / cakes / pastries (basically all my favourite things!). I'm also portion controlling and picking "better" carbs but I'm not low carbing.

I'm hoping the slow and steady approach finally gets me to a healthy weight 🙏

This way means I can still have the occasional take away or meal out and I also allow myself a relaxed day on weigh-in day.

I need to up my salad and veg as I currently eat quite "beige" albeit healthy-ish beige (if there is such a thing?)

I'm not banishing UPF's although I'd really like to lower the amount we all have.

Welcome everyone. Good to read about all your plans!

I am hoping to lose around 1lb a week too. I think around a 4 stone weight loss is my eventual goal. Hoping I can stick to it.

I'd like to lose a bit first and work up my fitness at home before I start going to the gym as I'm too self conscious for public exercise right now. I have a sedentary job and wfh most of the time which doesn't help with weight loss.

Cheers to all of us, we've got this. I'll pop on here to post regularly.

You might want MNHQ to move this to the "weight loss chat " thread as you might get more interaction

Thank you! I didn't know there was a separate board for this

I've got a lot to lose (not setting a target but BMI is 44) so am aiming for 2lb/week (well, 0.75kg as that's what I've set my goal as in MFP to calculate my calories). I've done many things over the years, mainly Slimming World, but I've realised that I need to just keep it simple - eat sensible meals, limit snacks, avoid sugar until after dinner so I don't get cravings, count calories to help me make better choices, and exercise. I started (again!) on the Monday before New Year so this coming Monday will be my second weigh in.
