Could anyone with a smart meter monitor or skill at meter reading advise on the mean cost of running gas fired central heating set at 21deg over a full day and overnight please, 4 small single radiators, large double, medium double.

The shower is electric. Hot water usage is minimal.

I hope everyone is warm enough, -5 here overnight in the soft South,
deep frost twinkling in the pale moonlight.

bump - I would really appreciate some help, thank you.
This is for my lovely mum who is very cold in her draughty house, so that I can assure her it will not cost her £50 a day, this is particularly cold spell, -7 overnight last nignt and tonight and -3 -5 during the day and that her and the dog need to be warm.

No idea of cost but if she can close off the guest bedroom and turn the heat off or to very low in there that would save money.
heat set at 20 with pjs, socks and dressing gown is warm enough and lower it down to 17 overnight

You dont need it 21⁰C overnight when people are in bed. I don't know about costs as ours is off overnight even when it's cold. We've had -8⁰C overnight the last few nights.

All you could do is try it, take meter readings and work out the cost

I don’t think anyone can guarantee you anything re costs as it’s so dependent on the house specifics.

As somebody else has suggested, if she has a smart meter you could trial it for one day and check the cost.

Alternatively, whack a space heater on and make sure one room is cosy. It will cost, but not £50 a day.

Noone can know. What temperature does she usually have it set at, and for how long, can you extrapolate from there? It's not going to cost 50.00 tho is it that would be over a thousand a month. Our bill for December was 320.00 which is about ten pounds a day. We have the heating at 20 two hours morning afternoon and evening
