Will home insurance cover the LA fires or is fire an act of God?

I dont think it will?

It depends on the policy. Some will, some won't. When I lived in a forest fire area it would have been covered but with a much higher excess than other events.

Obviously depends on the type of policy people have

Also I’m pretty sure the cause of the fires isn’t confirmed yet

I think someone said in an interview the other day that their insurance company cancelled a few months ago and they had been unable to renew it so had lost everything

I read that a number of insurance companies had withdrawn cover for fires in some areas a few months ago as the risk was so high.

So not an act of God (bit mean of him/her/them if it was) but doubly devasting to those whose insurance was withdrawn.
