Accidents at nursery?

DS just turned 3. Started potty training at 2y9mo and it’s went quite well he took to it well

still had the odd accident? Not really either us more nursery which I heard is common

so today in his new room (moved up) the lady pulled me aside said he had 2 which is a bit for him of course. Said he didn’t say oh I’ve weed etc they asked him and they said he said he didn’t know / laughed etc. didn’t seem to know he’d done it?

sometimes with me when he’s had a dribble or accident he laughs when I ask too.

should I be worried? Is it a regression? How do I help???

If he's been in a new nursery room for the first time I imagine he's got a lot of new stuff going on. He might be more distracted than usual or he might be a bit nervous.

It's not really very surprising for a fairly newly potty trained child to have a few accidents when doing something new.

Him saying that he didn't realise could actually be him being a bit embarrassed and trying to cover that up.

Give him a little while to settle in and I'm sure he'll be fine again soon. Don't make a big deal of it just make sure he has enough spare clothes. Make sure he knows exactly where to go or who to ask if he needs to go to the toilet.

If he continues to have unexpected accidents at home or in places he is more familiar with, then it might be worth getting a check for a uti just incase. But for now though, he's had a big first day and probably just needs a bit of tlc and reassurance.

Thanks! I’ve just been positive and just been saying oh it’s okay to tell x y x (room staff names) that you need a wee wee! It’s good - trying to just positively boost him

but the girl did raise, she asked me if he takes himself at home or I take him? And I always take him, he tells me and waits for me to take him

so maybe I get him used to taking himself to the loo? As that may decrease accidents ?

he’s fantastic at home and out and about the only type of ‘accidents’ he has is a slight dribble before he has a big wee on his potty/travel potty but not actual wee
