Los Angeles Fires

Apologies if there's already a thread on this, I did search but couldn't see one.
Is anyone else watching the Los Angeles fires in Palisades? I have family over there who are thankfully all safe but they're saying it's the worst fire they've seen since the 1993 events, apparently it's highly unusual to see this at this time of year.
I've been watching some live streams and I'm so heartbroken for the poor people who have lost everything, and the animals who must be terrified.
Hope all mumsnetters in the LA area are safe and well.

They look really bad. Just seen a video and a man is still in his house with his dog and the fire is surrounding his house and only a few feet away. He was filming from 8nside. No idea if he got out or not.

I saw that too, apparently they did manage to get out safely. Goodness knows how because the house looked pretty much engulfed in flames in that video didn't it.

Yes, I’m glad he got out.

This is truly horrific, I can’t imagine what those poor people are going through.
Natural disasters are truly scary, often unexpected and unpredictable.
