Best eyeglasses cleaning cloth?

Yes I do realise this is a supremely boring question but I’m a new glasses wearer and the one that came with them is crap. I’m in the market for a new cloth, any recommendations?

I would like to know this too! It's something they don't really talk about at the opticians.

I currently polish mine with the edge of either my very fluffy dressing gown, fluffy throw or soft jersey sleeve if I'm out and about. It can't be good for the lenses to be honest.

Seems to be a gap in the market . . .

I used to buy those Calocloth ones as they were awesome but 2 years ago they made them out of a thicker rougher material and have never found one as good as their old version.

Never use clothes or a scarf or you'll scratch the life out of them!!!!

Kings of Flash on ebay are worth a try.

I just use fairy liquid and kitchen paper

You can buy them in independent chemist sometimes, I've bought new ones when I've lost the original one, which opticians did you use? I've always had good cloths with my glasses

Depends if the glasses have a coating or not.

Tip: don't put your glasses cloth in the washing machine; especially with fabric conditioner, as the residue left by the detergents smear the lens

I just use a microfibres cloth . Works for me

SizzlingPrickle · 07/01/2025 16:42

I use a (clean!) microfibre cloth that I would in the kitchen. Although a lot of the time I end up just using jumper/dressing gown/blanket but they don’t work too well!!

LancreWowhawk · 07/01/2025 16:44

I never find just a cloth does the job very well, I use either Whoosh! screen cleaner or HG glasses cleaner spray (both great), with a microfibre cloth.

Dont mess about with cloths and sprays … just get one of these…its life changing

I have one in my bag, one at my desk and one beside my bed. It was my best Xmas gift for all the glasses users in my life

Specsavers have one that is ‘grippy’ on one side. But whatever cloth you use, ensure that you wash it regularly - they pick up dirt and grease each time you use one.
