Been in my flat for ten years now and it's time to redecorate all through, It needs the usual like painting etc and needs a good clean all through which I'm getting done, my kitchen is the worst, I need a new washing machine, fridge and cooker, also need a new lino.

Do i have the lino laid first then get appliences or appliences first? the lino was already in when i moved in so I didn't do it last time round..

Reason I'm asking is my nan had a lino fit then got appliences and when they brought the washing machine in they scratched nan's lino and it ripped in another area and looked horrible once everything was in place.

thanks

Appliances first for exactly the reason you mentioned, anyone who can fit the lino to a reasonable standard can work around the appliances.

I would put the lino first. If you don’t and the washing machine leaks the water will go under the floor.
You then have to be very careful placing the appliances. If you put a spare piece of lino face down under the appliance you can slide it over the floor.

Putting the lino first so the washer doesn’t leak underneath is ok in theory, however in practise it doesn’t work unless the lino skirts up the sides and the back or all edges are silicone sealed either way this is very difficult to get water tight.
