Flooding!

We're stuck in our village today. Very normal when there's a lot of rain.

Businesses with employees that don't lib in the village are all closed.

The fields bearing the brunt of the floodwater are under planning decisions for more homes. I feel so sorry for the people who buy them as they don't know their homes will flood as soon as there's a bit of rain.

Luckily my street is on a bit of a hill so we're OK but the street behind us isn't.

I'm not sure there's an answer to the widespread flooding in this country but it seems to happening more and more lately. I'm not sure why but someone somewhere must have developed an ingenious solution to help resolve this?

Building on flood plains is a major reason for the increase in flooding. That and people paving gardens/drives. All of this reduces the availability of areas for water to soak away.

Not planting trees. A mature tree can absorb 450 litres per day.
