'Flu!

I honestly can't remember a time when I've felt this poorly! Started with a few aches and pains a few days' ago and I've spent the last two days in bed pretty much.
My whole body aches and I am literally having to crawl up the stairs. I'm in agony every time I sneeze or cough and at 44 my pelvic floor is rubbish!
I attempted to walk to the local shop earlier and got so breathless I was dizzy when I got there - took me ages to slowly plod home.
I'm starting a new job tomorrow so have go go - I'm hoping dosing myself up with paracetamol will get me through 🙏
Anybody else felt this rough with this flu-type thing?

Yes I've just got over it, had it over Christmas. Had the aches and shakes, up and down temperature, horrid cough that made my head hurt, headache, completely lost my appetite, lost taste and smell, felt really weak, dizzy and tired, horrid sweating at night and not being able to sleep despite being so tired and lost my voice. Never felt so ill. Two weeks on and I'm pretty much back to normal.
I'm sorry you are feeling so unwell, it is very unpleasant. You just need to rest as much as you can, drink plenty of fluids and try and get some soup down you (that's all I could stomach for days!)

Oh yes and after 2 babies, my pelvic floor did not hold up great with the coughing either.

Yes - I already had a blocked Eustachian tube but then had a mild sore throat, which seemingly ended up in my sinuses. Then had a raging sweat/temperature for one night only, felt ok the next day but then it came back again causing loss of voice, throat like razor blades, dizziness and vertigo. And the fatigue... almost had me in tears. Bloody awful, but I've had worse! There are so many people losing their voice round here. Spring isn't far away and after four weeks I'm finally feeling about 80% better 😁

I've tried to go in to work but am only going to be able to manage this morning. Need to drive between appointments and I'm so exhausted I'm not going to be able to safely make it there (it's some drive). Feel so guilty as supposed to be my first day 😞

They wouldn't have thanked you for turning up and giving them all flu.

mindutopia · 06/01/2025 09:41

Please don’t go to work with the flu especially if you are client facing. Really irresponsible.

I have been suffering from this. A bit better now but still coughing a lot which is taking a lot out of me and feel breathless when i walk too much.

Thanks all. I've honestly been knocked for six with this. My body wants to sleep but every time I lie down my lungs are literally audibly groaning 😢
Hoping I'll feel better soon because no work, no pay.
