Three nights in Greece - help and wisdom PLEASE!

We live overseas, visiting the UK in June with DS8 and DS11. I have been to the Greek islands many times but DH (not from UK) has not. Really want to go but will only have 3 nights. Keep looking at holidays then changing mind.

DCs are into watersports, marine life. DH and I want to go for the food and beauty.

Any suggestions please wise ones? Where best to go/look for hols? Package or book seperately - if so who through?!

It’s not clear - why do you need to go via UK?

TotallyTwisted · 05/01/2025 22:00

There's no point in going for just three nights.

This - far too much travel for three nights.

For three night I’d be looking at the shortest all round travel time and going from there. Santorini is do-able in 4 days but is all about the beauty, not ideal for children. Crete or Zakynthos (Argassi in particular) would fit what you want but it’d be a very rushed trip.

Not going via the UK per se. Visiting family there but want to also take the opportunity to see some of Europe.

Look on Jet2 Holidays, you can set for 3 days for a package holiday. Some of the islands will only have a weekly flight so likely you will be looking at bigger ones like Crete, Rhodes etc. Be warned a lot of Greek flights are early Uk and night flights back.

Not sure why so many po are saying not worth going for 3 nights- I have recently done corfu, skiathos and Santorini for the weekend. All have been fabulous and I will do more this year.

BrieHugger · 05/01/2025 22:43

Corfu is probably nearest and therefore has the shortest travel time, about 3 hours. You should be able to get an early flight out and late flight back so you get fuller days there, but I’d still try to stretch it to 4 or 5 nights if I were you.

This is lovely. Great water sports. Don’t know about shorter visits but Zante does have regular flights

Three nights, is it actually worth it?

Illinoise · 05/01/2025 23:16

People do New York for 3 days so Greece isn’t bad! I’ve done Cyprus for 4 days. Corfu is lovely and the closest Island to the UK!

Movinghouseatlast · 05/01/2025 23:17

Corfu is your best bet for such a short time.

You can get 6.30am flights from Gatwick, and 11pm return flight. Taxi from the airport to wherever you choose. Look at Kassiopi.

Take a look at Kefalonia. Lots of flights and would fit the bill.
