A Monday in Cambridge - HELP

So all holidays I have planned a lovely day out tomorrow in Cambridge as my DD has an inset day. Just sat down to devise my itinerary and realised most of the museums we had planned to visit are closed Mondays! We are going to look around the Sedgwick, but please wonderful hive mind, help a mum out!

My DD is 7, nearly 8, looking for indoor stuff or sight seeing really, free or low cost. She's interested in most stuff but is a quite kid who just loves to meander for a day rather than action packed! Any suggestions?

We are driving from Essex and parking at the park and ride, DH is working near there for the day, hence us planning to go together.

The Whipple museum is open in the afternoon and mine liked that when younger.

edit I’ve just checked website and it’s shut for holiday period. Guess that’s the problem you are finding- I was just thinking it was open Mondays.

The Museum of Cambridge is open on Mondays. It used to be called the Cambridge Folk Museum.

The weather forecast isn’t very good for the morning, though - gusty winds and heavy rain - so probably sightseeing or the Botanic Gardens wouldn’t be a good choice.

Chronophage clock on kings parade.

You may be able to go into king's college and the chapel might be open - they have a leaflet and a small exhibition in the side rooms.

If not then you could walk down trinity passage by the senate house to the river - old buildings and like walking through a medieval town

The computer museum looks like it is closed unfortunately.

Possibly churches - great St Mary's is usually open and I think they have a tower tour?

Thanks everyone, we did the Museum of Cambridge which was fab, my little one loved it. And Sedgewick too. By time we had lunch and trailed the various Harry Potter shops, she was happy :) thankfully the weather improved in the afternoon! Want to go back to the Botanical Gardens
