Low Carb snack ideas

Sorrythatnameistaken · 05/01/2025 15:50

Hi all looking for ideas please. Complete first world problem but . . .
I always go on a low carb push after Christmas and being a terrible snacker tend to keep a bag of almonds/cashews etc in my desk drawer at work to keep cravings at bay. We recently had a new member of staff start who has a serious nut allergy and are now obviously a nut free workplace.
I'm on the opposite side of the building to the kitchen and fridge so can't keep popping over there for carrot/cucumber sticks or other chilled things so looking for an alternative I can keep in my drawer and I'm coming up blank 🤷‍♀️
Any ideas
TIA x

Dried fruit. Dried corn/peas/chickpeas. Wasabi peas.

I’m also going to low (particularly refined) carb after a very carb heavy Christmas. However, I’m planning on not really snacking. I’m hoping the high fat, low carb meals will satisfy me enough (also hoping to lose a few Xmas pounds). I find some chewing gum helps mid afternoon! Sorry not much help but just another option.

I've discovered some little crunchy pure cheese snacks in packets which are expensive but very satisfying.

Dried fruit are extremely high carbs.

Beef jerky? Pepperami? Kabanos? (Bit processed but tasty)
Lettuce cups with prawn mayo or tuna mayo,
Vietnamese summer rolls with lettuce wraps (use zero carb noodles or omit the noodles)
Cheese sticks/strings
Smoked salmon pate on cucumber
Ice lollies made with lemon juice and sweetener and water and mint.
Roast chicken slices
Radishes with butter or salted olive oil
Smoked oysters or mussels with lemon
Bacon and boiled/poached egg
Caesar salad minus the crutons (use crispy dried onions instead)
Slice of mushroom frittata

None of these are low carb

Can you take a small insulated bag with a frozen water bottle/freezer block?

Egg muffins
Kale crisps
Fat bombs
Ham/cheese roll ups
Cheese crisps
Chaffles
Low carb fruits

Cottage cheese
Skyr
Greek yoghurt
Smoked salmon/cooked salmon
Tinned mackerel or smoked mackerel
Chicken or turkey pieces
Cooked prawns

With
Cucumber/celery/spinach/gem lettuce/French beans

Hard boiled eggs
High protein yoghurt
Cheese slices

Although I have to say when I am low carb, I don't feel the need to snack much, if at all

Inextremis · 05/01/2025 16:38

If you can find them, Fragata tinned olives (with jalapenos or lemon) are low carb, and very very tasty.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 05/01/2025 16:39

Carrot sticks don't need to be chilled.
Popcorn
Rice crackers
Squash in your water bottle helps fool your brain a little

Iheartmysmart · 05/01/2025 16:42

M&S do some lovely cheese bites which are literally just baked cheese. £1.25 for a small bag though! I’d just get a little cool bag personally and take whatever snacks you want.

pinkhimalayan · 05/01/2025 16:45

Corn cakes
Lentil crisps
Goji berries
Energy bars
Jelly
Greek yoghurt

I feel like people are missing the 'low carb' requirement of this question

SaltyLemons · 05/01/2025 17:54

Babybels
Olives

This. Why do you need to snack, anyway?

DilemmaDelilah · 05/01/2025 19:26

I've done low carb. Snacking isn't easy without nuts! Cheese crisps (baked grated cheese) are lovely but expensive. I used to buy cooked crispy bacon slices from the supermarket - they're quite good. Make sure they're the crispy slices though... unless you like your bacon flabby! A real treat was proper pork crackling. The easiest thing is pork scratchings/crackling - and that is easy to keep in a desk drawer or in your handbag.

Thanks all - sorry for not replying individually but some good ideas in there. I do definitely want to be low carb though. For those asking why I "need" to snack I suffer from migraines so if I don't eat little and often I find I trigger them especially when I'm busy anyway.
