Sending a route on googlemaps by link, it keeps doing the wrong route?

So I put together a route for myself on my laptop on google maps, I then use the 'send link' link to send it to myself on watsapp

The route I open on my phone is completely different to that on my laptop

The route I open from watsapp on my laptop is the correct one, even if Ive closed down googlemaps in the meantime

what I am doing wrong on the phone to get the wrong route?

Either phone app not up to date , or check settings on Google maps on phone, check if you've excluded motorways, or chosen fastest over shortest.
