Seeking Advice: Change Daughter’s Name by Deed Poll Before Holiday or Renew Passport?

Hi everyone,

I could use some advice on a bit of a dilemma I'm facing. My daughter is set to get her name changed by deed poll, and we're planning a holiday in August. She'll eventually need a new passport with her new name.

My question is: should I apply to change her name by deed poll before the holiday and then get a new passport, or should I simply renew her existing passport in her current name for our trip?

Any experiences or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in Advance :)

Deed poll first then new passport. DD did hers aged 16 & it was surprisingly easy. August is ages away so get it done now while there’s plenty of time.

I'd get her to change it after the holiday personally. Even if she did change it beforehand, it shouldn't make a difference if you book under her old name as it's not like they keep an official register of deed poll changes and then she could use her current passport.
