I read a book years ago that I want to recommend to a friend, but can’t find the title anywhere. I even tried Chat GPT for the first time and it was no use.

A British woman (I think she had two kids) meets and has a one night stand with a Canadian man (I think he has an adult daughter) at a hotel on a work trip. They then start a long distance relationship. She lives in the UK and he lives in Squamish, British Columbia and is very close with the local Indigenous community. I seem to recall she is an author or something. Relationship gets seriously etc, then his friend flies him to the airport as he is going to the UK to propose but the plane crashes in the mountains and they die. Not a cheery ending.

Any ideas?

I’ve read this! Can’t remember the title, will have a think. They meet in a hotel and fall madly in love, and I think she ends up moving to Canada after his death. He lived in an amazing house made of logs I think! It’ll come to me….

Thank you x2 because I've definitely read that book but wouldn't have been able to remember the name for OP.

I loved this book. Was genuinely gutted when he died. On a par with the shock in One Day - I think I actually shouted out loud 😂
