Want change in 2025 - what are the best hobbies you have taken up?

I was looking back on 2024 and it was ok, but I don’t want a repeat. I like novelty and change and I’d like to start some new hobbies in 2025.

What are some of your favourite things you’ve taken up?

Things like a choir (for not necessarily talented singers!!) or pottery appeal to me. Or something to do with fitness.

I work 3.5 days a week, so something in my time off rather than my evenings (a daytime hobby).

Give me all your wonderful ideas!!!

yoga and palates. Not sure how old you are but they are important for building strength flexibility and balance. and most people who go are a friendly bunch

I'm doing a pottery course this year to make a moon gazing hare.
Last year I did two silver smithing courses - they were fun.
Also made a wicker bee the year before which is now in the garden.
And soap making - really fun.

Paddleboarding... I started a few years ago. There's a local FB group so it's been easy to meet others to paddle. We have also met socially for walking/ coffee.

I go to a 'knit and natter' group one afternoon a week (I crochet). It's good fun.

Rock Choir does daytime groups, you definitely don't need to be a good singer, no auditions and honestly such a buzz!

A couple of years ago, aged 61, I decided I needed to do something a bit different and exciting, so I joined a local scuba diving club. Made some great new friends and now I’m a qualified Sports Diver!

In my 40s I have taken up paddle boarding, tap dancing and adult ballet!

I took up painting, I am rubbish at it and I don't tend to finish what I started at home, but I really enjoy the classes.

ETA that my reasoning for doing it was that if I didn't sign up to something that I would just work and hibernate all winter.

I'd half fancied trying Clubbercise for a couple of years, but worried I wasn't fit enough/too old at 58. One morning I just got up and decided, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Still doing it, and interestingly some are doing a lighter version of what the instructor is showing us.

What I'm saying to you if there's something that half appeals just give it a go. Worst case scenario, you don't go back.

I like the idea of painting! Daunted by other people being very talented though!
