Just seen this on the local news and had a quick Google. It all sounds very strange but I also wonder why they haven't given his surname?

Very sad for his family.

Seems to be standard. Just googled out of curiosity and the only one coming up was 'Thomas' who was missing in October no surname for him either

There's a Facebook group about him and that includes his surname as does many news reports. It's sad it hasn't had more coverage.

Is he a young adult or otherwise left education? It might also be because it is 'very sad for his family' and there are no suspicious circumstances.

Some families want privacy, while also wanting their loved ones home. They want to come to terms with the challenges the disappearance might mean. Was it perhaps a voluntary disappearance? Can they control his return, through private channels?

At the time of the Nicola Bulley tragedy, a local young man in his 6th form also disappeared but similarly he drowned. I have struggled to understand why his situation was not equally covered. He was a person much loved and wanted. Then due to meeting his parents I can understand why. They are private people and wanted to control the narrative of his life. Why would we wish to give that narrative over to the press, given the way they love to destroy individuals who are only human after all.

Sadly I assume that it’s to stop people contacting the family but his surname is freely available on social media.

Yes I can understand the family wanting privacy, that makes sense.

Really hope they get some good news soon.
