How will I proceed

I made an online order in the middle of December with a delivery date for the 23rd of December. My order never came. I have a tracking number and the tracking didn't update since the label was created. So I have no idea where this is. I got in touch with the shop I bought from and they said that it's with the courier and it should be handed over to royal mail and tracking will only be updated when it's handed to royal mail. There's still no update.

I asked for a refund because it's a non delivery. I was asked to refuse the delivery if it is delivered. I don't know how I can manage this when I am not at home most days. I do t know if there's any hope on delivery yet. If it is delivered I don't fancy returning the product and likely being liable for return costs because it's a flatpack cabinet and it's going to be so expensive. I decided that if it shows up within the next week I and contact the shop and they can send me a payment link to pay for it again.

The thing is I have no idea if this is going to turn up or now and I found an alternative on Amazon that has a delivery date for next week. I am really interested in this one from Amazon.

Unless if the tracking is updated next week on the original item and I can plan to be at home for refusal but that might not happen either.

I forgot to add I asked for a refund and it should be in my account at some point next week.

Dear OP, you’ve posted about this under a different name already, plus asked about snow and putting shopping on a credit card.

I get you feel in limbo. Here is what I would do:

The shop has told you they will give you a refund and it will take 3-7 working days.

Let that time pass.

If they’ve told you they are refunding you, surely the item will not now arrive? Otherwise they would have said ‘send it back when it arrives and we will then issue a refund.’

I wouldn’t order the second one from Amazon until you’ve had the original refund. You might end up with two. And sending one back will be a nuisance. And even you don’t end up with two, you will have ‘paid the money twice’ - get the refund and then use that to buy the Amazon one. It won’t go out of stock.

Try and put it out of your mind for a few days and let the refund come through.
