Just watched search for truth today, and while binged seems the wrong word DH and watched the whole series on the edge of our seat with tears in our eyes and for most parts mouths open.
I have had it marked to watch because originally from Edinburgh (at age 8) was taken to a Christmas light turn on with a treat of hot chocolate on the 21st of December 1988. As we came out of the Sheraton Hotel and walked back onto Princess street to catch the bus there was the longest line of emergency vehicles with lights and sirens going up the Mound. I’ll never forget my dad who was in the police saying, something really terrible must have happened. He was recalled that night and was picked up from Fettes police station at 6am to be transported over to Lockerbie for the next two weeks so it does all feel quite close to home but I’m not sure I’ve ever really delved more into the wider devastating consequences it had, the individual families who’s lives were changed forever and also the political sides.
Its absolutely shocking that there has still not been an inquest and confidential files not shared.
DH wondered where the programme, similarly to the RM scandal recount might prompt action and some kind of justice for the families and I just wondered if anyone has watched, has any thoughts or been touched by Lockerbie
