Does anyone else still feel in the midst of Christmas and going with it…

Granted I don’t go back work until

next week and appreciate that’s not the same for everyone but is anyone else still hanging out in there Christmas PJ’s, having a daily cheese board and luxurious mid day bubble bath and saying fuck it to a glass of fizz at 4pm?

I can’t be the only one?

DH went back to work yesterday after being off since 20th. We enjoyed chocolates, board games and relaxing days until the 30th but don't really do anything Christmassy much past New Year. I could never sit and watch a Christmas movie now, I would be all excited about Christmas and then be on a downer when I realise Christmas Day has already gone! 😄 Christmas films and music firmly belong in the run up to Christmas for me. Christmas cards went in the recycling yesterday for the collection this morning. The tree and lights will go away tomorrow, although we do usually mark Twelfth Night with a glass of wine and sort of 'toast' the end to Christmas.

Nothatgingerpirate · 03/01/2025 14:06

No.
Just myself and my husband, child free, cannot understand the appeal of nowadays Christmas.
None of us drink and we are retired.
😁

The decorations are on the floor now, the cheese and crackers will be chucked later. One last nibble and then I have to say goodbye. I grew an extra chin! 😩

Yeah ! Me! I worked Xmas week and in between Xmas and ny, so now I’m off till 13th Jan. sitting here drinking wine, got crisps n dip watching virgin river. I may get the pate and sausage rolls out soon 🤣
although I must admit I’m worried the tree needs to cone down soon..

Cone down-Good pun!

socks1107 · 03/01/2025 14:59

No! I have worked every day bar the bank holidays. Tree is down days ago and it feels like a normal Friday. I'd love to feel it still but this year I don't sadly

LlynTegid · 03/01/2025 15:12

Not me.

I intentionally went to work between Christmas and New Year. So I can have the time off in February instead- as mentioned on another thread, it is a long time until Easter.

PheasantPluckers · 03/01/2025 15:16

Meeeeeee!

OK, so the Christmas energy is dwindling somewhat now and thoughts are turning towards work and school on Monday but I'm still enjoying the lights, the remnants of the Christmassy food and drink and getting lots of rest.

WhatNoRaisins · 03/01/2025 15:18

I'm appreciating that school starts later this year (Monday) and that it's given us the chance to wind it all down a bit more gradually. Decorations are up until Sunday, there's still some food to go but we are over the peak of it now.

Yes - last Christmas family gathering this weekend, then back to school on Wednesday. It brightens a very dark dull time of year!
DH and I are both self employed though, so have been working sporadically all holiday.

YouveGotAFastCar · 03/01/2025 15:28

Nah, but I didn’t really do any of that stuff anyway. I’ve never owned Christmas pyjamas and I would love to live a life that allowed midday baths and 4pm champagne 😂

Christmas comes at the end of a mad rush of birthdays and events for us, so we tend to take the tree down and try to relax a bit once it’s done. We do loads in December to celebrate but I’ve always found the after bit slow and painful. Everything is more expensive, busier and cold, and I want some normality back!

ilovebagpuss · 03/01/2025 15:28

I enjoy a few of those days between Christmas and new year but for me personally I start to miss the routine if it goes on too long.
I also have a DD with an early Jan birthday so decs come down pretty soon after NY.
Each to their own.

Lucytheloose · 03/01/2025 15:47

Nope. The return to normality on 2 January is the best bit of the whole shebang, as far as I'm concerned.

Thewrongdoor · 03/01/2025 16:16

still Christmas here. Lights and tree and decorations still up. Won’t come down till 12th Night. I’ve been working throughout, though.

Jennyathemall · 03/01/2025 16:22

Nope! Tree down NYE and we are done with it all. Glad to have the house back to normal

mondaytosunday · 03/01/2025 16:24

Im half and half. My DD is home from uni for another week and we've been visiting relatives the last couple days, but I've also just done my taxes, have paid some huge bills that are always due on the 1st of Jan, which has caused a bit of financial reckoning! I have retrieved some of the boxes for the Christmas decs...yes I think this weekend the time has come to put Christmas to bed for another year.

mondaytosunday · 03/01/2025 16:25

Also if I allow myself to indulge in Christmas treats much more I won't be able to get out the door.

Same.. I have to stop on the 1st. I can never believe how much my body changes in the 10 days I splurge.. 😬😂

TheWickerHare · 05/01/2025 01:03

I'm sat in freshly washed christmas PJs, tree twinkling away, eating chocs and watching Lapland UK documentary on channel 4.

I adore Christmas time. I put my tree up late November and (reluctantly) take it down on twelfth night.

I've always been one to struggle with post christmas blues. I'm thinking back to 4 years ago when Lockdown 2.0 kicked in and there was no school and no office and it was an awful time.. to remind myself that the grass isn't always greener when it comes to not wanting the holidays to end.

But I do see January as a slower month to enjoy the winter before the world starts to wake up as we head into Feb and closer to Spring. By which time I'm over the post christmas blues and looking forward to warmer weather 😊

LeavesTrees · 05/01/2025 01:37

DH and I drank a bottle of mulled wine, ate a box of Baileys biscuits in our PJs with all of the twinkling lights on tonight. The light dusting of snow has been lovely too. Feeling very Christmassy here!

ProudCoralBear · 05/01/2025 21:39

This thread has made me realise that I’m missing out, I will be getting my Christmas on until the 6th of Jan next year!

oobedobe · 05/01/2025 22:33

yesterday we had a lovely new years dinner of roast beef and trifle for dessert, had small crackers on the table and some lovely wine - then we played games and watched wallace and grommet with the kids. It was lovely and like a second Christmas for us.

Today the tree is down and the decorations put away, though I do leave some fairy lights up for another month or so to keep a bit of the cozy vibe.

There are some ferrero rocha left and some cheese but thats all

stargirl1701 · 06/01/2025 00:18

Tree came down this evening.
