Would you be embarrassed getting free drinks?

It's my birthday in December and a lot of the places I signed up to had gave me free drinks.
I have a round of free drinks in the botanist
£20 to use in turtle bay and £20 free drink voucher for another bar.
I was thinking next Sunday going out with my partner and just using all our free drinks vouchers.
Would you be embarrassed?

Nah, they didn't have to offer you them. Id go for it

KilkennyCats · 02/01/2025 12:55

They all gave you free drinks for your birthday? Why?

AutoP1lot · 02/01/2025 12:55

Why would you be embarrassed? They wouldn't send you vouchers and not expect you to use them. Have a great time!

Pancakeflipper · 02/01/2025 12:55

If it's a valid offer they have sent you- then it's fine surely?

polpolpolpol · 02/01/2025 12:55

Why would you be embarrassed?

Snowmanscarf · 02/01/2025 12:55

They gave you the offers - accept them!

ohyesido · 02/01/2025 12:56

Hell no I'd be celebrating

tingletingle · 02/01/2025 12:56

I think it's because last year I got a offer which was £30 off a £50 round so we got lots of drinks (well 5 cocktails 🤣) and the bat man looked at us like shit on his shoe

It’s only a bit embarrassing if you use them and don’t spend another penny there.

HoppingPavlova · 02/01/2025 12:57

Why would you be embarrassed. If they didn’t expect you to use it, they wouldn’t have the vouchers🫤. It’s a marketing ploy so take advantage of it.

Did the bat man think you were Robin him? 😉

Why is that embarrassing? It's a free drink they've given her. It's not like going in and just having tap water.

Theimpossiblegirl · 02/01/2025 12:59

I used my turtle bay vouchers for a pre theatre round of cocktails. Paid a couple of pounds so we got 4. No-one minds.

I shouldn't think he cares about the takings of the night too much, it's not as if they are independent bars.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 02/01/2025 16:55

Not at all, they pay ££ for influencers to advertise thier service with completely free food and drinks.

They won't "bat-man" an eyelid at a £20 voucher.

A lot of the time I use vouchers I get on birthdays from pub chains. Eating out is expensive as it is.

Enjoy!

She’s already given them free PR by posting this thread. I think it’s fine to use them and not spend more ££. It creates goodwill, you’re more likely to come back.

Notmyregularusrname · 02/01/2025 16:57

Clearly I am more shameless than you OP because my contribution to the thread is …

…how can I get vouchers?

StormingNorman · 02/01/2025 16:59

I would be embarrassed to have my free drinks and leave. But having a first round on the bar and then pay for subsequent rounds or ordering paid-for food with my drinks would be fine.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 02/01/2025 17:01

That sounds like a great night out!! I don’t understand why it would be embarrassing to use the voucher then leave, the companies have given you the vouchers to use, presumably as you’re in some sort of loyalty scheme. It’s none of the bar man’s business either, he doesn’t get paid out of the profits in the till.

Sign up on the turtle bay app.

I'm going to investigate the others now.

90yomakeuproom · 02/01/2025 18:52

Aren't a lot of the offers like free drink with a meal or something

tingletingle · 02/01/2025 20:07

The botanist is a good one to sign up for as you get a round of drinks (including cocktails ) for up to 6 people and also a free hanging kebab for your birthday
