What are your plans today?

Any family or cultural traditions?

We are planning on a quiet relaxing day, just catching up on recorded TV and then we have got a beef rib roast for dinner around 6pm.
Nothing too taxing!

I'm in Australia and had Binge-less friends round to watch the Gavin and Stacey finale, eat leftover Christmas puddings (not actual Christmas puds) and drink prosecco.

Tidy.

Ooh Gavin and Stacey was brilliant. I'm.with friends. We are going to have a nice walk, relax and watch some TV. Happy 2025 to you all

It's so nice and quiet here right now, everyone is still asleep 😴

Going to Dsis for dinner today, can't wait for the turkey and ham. Doing a tidy up this morning as we're going away for a week tomorrow morning. I'll have to get the suitcases packed too.

Going to start making a lovely eggs benedict breakfast in a minute and then prep the salmon for dinner with family later.

Toys need picking up and organising quite badly but I will tackle that tomorrow!

I have one family tradition that I started myself when I bought my first home 30 years ago.
I always buy a few bunches of daffodils on NYE to bring in the new year.
I've just noticed there's one opened, an one opening.

They make me smile 😊

@CharliesAngles love this! Might go see if I can find some. Dog walk at seaside for me if anyone else gets out of bed - on my own if not as why not?
Then I made a huge pot of chilli last night so we'll have that again later - it grew and grew. Think I went overboard on the beans !
I've been contemplating my year and resolutions but not sure if I'll make any only to break them !!

I think they are just so cheery, the yellow is such a sign of spring and warmth, a much needed reminder during a stormy new year's day such as today!

Lazy morning here, DC have been pottering around and we’re about to take the dog for an unexpected snowy walk. Had pancakes and bacon for breakfast and steak pie planned for dinner.

Meant to add, how are you spending your day?

I’ve had a lazy morning, didn’t get up until 10, we had a very late night and far too much champagne was consumed. We’re having ‘the squad’ (DH’s family) round for dinner today, lentil soup, steak pie, roasties, mash, carrots, peas and broccoli followed by sherry trifle. It was 26 at the last count coming over. It’s a family tradition to meet up on Ne’erday before the madness of the lambing season starts and much alcohol will be consumed. We all miss MIL who died last year so we’re carrying her tradition on, it’s going to be very odd without her here 🥲.

I’m taking easy today. I’m one of the unfortunates who succumbed to the flu bug over Christmas 🙄 I’m feeling much better, now, just need to shift the headache.

im going to take the Christmas decs down tomorrow…. And I going to get & bunch of daffodils to cheer the place up! 🌼

We're having a lazy one today. Just had breakfast in bed, and we'll go for a walk in the snow (Norway for the hols) to MIL's I think. Going to make some sandwiches at home and take them round so she doesn't need to cook, which she'll insist on despite being knackered after last night's party. She didn't leave until 1am and she's usually an early night gal!

Think we'll head back then, spend the afternoon reading, then play an online escape room. Dinner is always a side of salmon with hassleback spuds (with dill and chive butter), asparagus, broccoli, and a champagne sauce. Our body clocks are a bit off after a loooong sleep in, so it'll be late eating!

Loving the idea of daffodils! I might copy this when we go back to the UK. You can't beat a lovely bunch of flowers!
