I can't do this any more

Day 3 of relentless pain that I can't get under control
Woke up at 5am with it and started painkillers so I could work. I'm maxed out on pain relief and I feel like someone is twisting all my ovary and womb
I'm exhausted Sad and there's absolutely nothing that can be done until I have an operation

Just wanted to moan really, I'm so so fucking fed up

Oh no, that sounds terrible😢. Hope you get better soon!

nc42025 · 03/01/2025 08:10

I'm going to ring the endo nurse at 9am and say you said when I'm vocal with pain to go to a&e, well I did and they offered paracetamol

Have you got a tens machine they're fantastic for endo pain, tpn200 is what many pain teams use and only about 23£ on amazon?

Accupuncture has pretty good results too, the pain team (or sometimes your gp) can refer you for it if can't afford private for speed

Posting to offer sympathy - this was exactly how it was for me before surgery. Nothing really touches the pain. From your description, your insides are in a similar condition to mine, adhesions, ovarian endometioma, bowel and ovaries stuck together, fibroids and adenomyosis adding to the pain. At some points I was literally screaming. Mine always flared at 4am, like clockwork.

I feel like nobody is getting the pain I'm in
When I broke my ankle and foot, my dad drove me to hospital over speed bumps which was pretty sore!
He saw me with a flare up and was horrified and said he's never ever seen me like that even with broken bones

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this op. It makes me furious that women are left to manage this level of pain for months or even years on end, completely unacceptable and barbaric. I hope your surgery date is soon and that it gives you the relief you need- you are amazingly strong to still be functioning in any way, let alone still working.

It really is the worst pain - I would describe it as like someone pinching your insides with red hot pliers and relentlessly twisting and squeezing. I ended up having an abdominal hysterectomy and even the recovery pain from the operation wasn't as bad as the pain I had been in before it - the nurses were surprised at how quickly I was up and about after the operation - it was because I was used to functioning with pain!

Bedecked · 03/01/2025 09:28

I’m so sorry, this is unspeakably awful.

Keep reminding your employer that you’ll be better able to work after your op, if you do need time off.

You’re doing brilliantly, taking the meds you can, contacting the endo nurse, focusing on getting through the wait bit by bit. I hope they can move your op up.

As an anaesthetist I kinda want to counter that, that we aren't just sitting twiddling our thumbs ar work all day, giggling at the fact we leave people suffering all the time. We are cancelling cancer surgery on a daily basis cos of a lack of icu beds, lack of staffing etc, people wait months sometimes for cancer surgery, only last week I had a patient die of a heart attack he had been on the waiting list for stents for over a year. We are trying our damned-ist, we go many an oncall shift without food and drink. We are trying our best. The nhs is just broken. As are the staff

Yes but I've exceeded the triggers

@Destiny123 I get that entirely, I'm very grateful they can do the surgery and I don't have to pay TBH
The gynae waiting lists are totally unacceptable but that's not the staffs fault and I would never ever take it out on them

I'm sorry it sucks. I waited a year for mine, my mum looked at private but it was nearly 5k, 16y ago and I was v straight forward quick look in and out

I haven't, will have a look

Think I've also got a UTI so I'm seeing the doctor this evening. Couldn't get hold of the endo nurse

Was originally referred to Spire via NHS who took one look and said no you need a specialist endo centre

@Destiny123 absolutely, I have no doubt you’re under huge pressure. I don’t blame the staff for the long waits at all so I apologise if this is how my post came across. I blame years of women’s health being under researched and under funded, as well as a previous government who have completely dismantled free healthcare provision. You are stuck in a broken system.

nc42025 · 09/01/2025 17:54

Update that the tens seems good but I haven't had really severe pain to test it yet just niggling and 8 days of random bleeding now, and my period is due in 5 days so I'll be able to see then

Gynae rang me to say my surgery needs a colorectal surgeon as well as the endo specialist and feb is fully booked so it'll be March/april
