HRT wisdom

I realised a few months ago I am in perimenopause...quite far along I think with some atrophy and periods months apart.

My doc was fab and I started estrogel and utrogerstan before Christmas.

All good so far except I could not tolerate either part of the HRT! Estrogel gave me anxiety like I haven't experienced since postnatal days (I had severe postnatal anxiety which ended in depression, Mirtazapine was a lifesaver) 2 pumps was hell, 1 pump gave a flat, depressive state. I was so hopeful the Utrogestan would balance things but I only lasted 3 days on it as the morning anxiety and dread from it had me crawling the walls!

I simply could not tolerate 3 months as I wanted to be well for Christmas....is such a huge anxiety feeling normal at the start of HRT?

I really x1000 want to find the right HRT as I have dry skin, broken sleep etc... but the main reason is I just realised today I no longer recognise myself, I have lost my joy and my (once) huge enthusiasm for life, also (excuse my vanity) I feel my skin and hair are flat and lifeless now and this all adds up to me feeling really out of kilter in my day to day life.

Does anyone recognise any of what I have said? If you couldn't tolerate the gel/tablets AT ALL what worked for you? I would love some ideas for my next trip to the GP!

Maybe talk to your GP about trying patches? There are several different types
