decided to do a spring clean tonight as I am off tomorrow, tell me what do you clean before New Years!

OP posts:
TwinkleLights24 · 30/12/2024 18:35

I do a full house blitz but it always feels needed after having Christmas stuff out.

Doggymummar · 30/12/2024 18:36

Yes we did it today. Smells lovely. Washed all the windows, rugs soft furnishings put away the Christmas stuff,

mondaytosunday · 30/12/2024 18:37

Uhhhhh nope. Still Christmas here.

Paradoes · 30/12/2024 18:38

I would but I’m going to leave the decorations up until the second I think.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 30/12/2024 18:45

I have 2 small kids, If I don't clean every day it turns to a disaster zone very quickly!

I know it bad luck To do washing on new years day, so I'm torn on that one tbh. Did 2 loads of washing today and it might be dry enough to do another load tomorrow night. Fingers crossed!

We had guests staying that generated 2 loads of bedding and 1 of towels, add in swimming stuff for 4 and no tumble dryer and it mounts up fast!

AnnieMay2000 · 30/12/2024 19:05

I clean everyday.

Cosycover · 30/12/2024 19:11

I clean everyday too but tomorrow will do the skirtings/change bedding etc and also get all the washing done.

Then get pissed.

DappledThings · 30/12/2024 19:12

Nope. NYE is only the 7th of the 12 days of Christmas so no decorations down or cleaning to be done yet.

Cynic17 · 30/12/2024 19:14

People clean every day??! Life is too short, tbh.

NovemberMorn · 30/12/2024 19:17

No. I cleaned before I put the Christmas decorations up on the 15th Dec....I won't give the house a good clean again till we take them down on the 5th Jan.

I do hoover and do a few basic chores in between though.

DarkForces · 30/12/2024 19:19

Probably a quick spritz rather than a full clean. We're all off so dh can run round a hoover while I do the bathrooms

TTPDTS · 30/12/2024 19:20

Huge full clean, but around the Christmas trees! All other decor bits for Christmas are down, trees will be up until the 6th. It feels so much fresher when you clean before NYE!

BashfulClam · 30/12/2024 19:22

If you clean on New Year’s Day or do washing you clean away luck and wash away life. As I’ve had a shite 2024 and my mum is frail I am not taking any chances. You should clean on Hogmanay so you are not carrying the insurers dirt and stoor into a new year. I’ll be properly deep cleaning as I want 2024 and it’s tears gone!

Kitkat1523 · 30/12/2024 19:25

Full house blitz today ….tree is down and decs away…..house is spotless and smells nice!…. About 2 hours each for me and DP …..did it first thing so all done by 10am….also included were; fridge cleaned out, beds changed, all ironing done and tip run

FartingAgainstThunder · 30/12/2024 19:26

I never go out on Hogmanay or New year's day.
I'm partied out by this point in the year.

So tomorrow I'll get the Christmas stuff packed away, change the bedsheets and give the house a big clean.
Have a big shower, do a facial, blow dry my hair and get into brand new pyjamas then crack out my new diary and pen and add all the important bits for the year whilst watching Jools Holland or When Harry met Sally.

That's a very long winded way of saying yes I do clean before new year 😁

CouldntGiveAHoot · 30/12/2024 19:28

No, it's Christmas rules until the 2nd. Then all the decs will be tidies away, the house will be spring cleaned and the potted hyacinths will be brought out into the warmth to crack on and make me look forward to spring!

Wildywondrous · 30/12/2024 19:29

I do everything on New Years Day, tree and decorations down, good clean around and start the new year with everything looking lovely and fresh.

Plus everywhere is shut so there's nothing else to do.

BondStreet · 30/12/2024 19:29

All of the decs have been put away and I’ve deep cleaned (you just can’t get to things with all of the decorations up).

It’s sparkling here and ready for our party guests tomorrow evening.

Fleurdalys · 30/12/2024 19:30

New Year

Sadcrimboisover · 30/12/2024 19:30

I usually have the tree and decorations down on New years day, but this year I might keep then up until next weekend…not ready for it all to end

Motheranddaughter · 30/12/2024 19:31

Yes
Well had my cleaner in for 3 hours today

FelixtheAardvark · 30/12/2024 19:32

No.

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 30/12/2024 19:33

No more than the rest of the year.

Cakeandcardio · 30/12/2024 20:04

Decorations still up but cleaned bigger areas today - floors / bathroom / dusted.
Will change bedsheets tomorrow
