Will this give my family food poisoning?

I will start by saying I have always been fussy with food and hate reheating meat but we have quite a bit of turkey left over from a roast on Saturday so I thought I'd make a nice pie that I'd seen on Tik tok.

I made up a thick gravy about half an hour ago and set it aside to cool.

I've just assembled everything, put some cold cooked veg in the pie dish first, added the cold torn up turkey pieces then poured on the thick gravy and quickly added a puff pastry topping, I then popped it straight into the oven but I'm worrying as the gravy was as still a bit to warm and had some steam coming off it when I poured it onto the cold turkey (even though it had been sitting out for half an hour!).

DH says it'll be ok but I'm worried about us eating it now. Am I being silly? I'll cook it until it's piping hot.

No issue with this at all.

What do you see as the risk? Given that it was going straight into a hot oven?

Are you worried the hot gravy will make the cold turkey unsafe?
If you assembled the pie then left it on the side for a few hours then I'd say that wasn't great. But straight in the oven, you'll all be fine. Sounds delicious!

This would never occur to me as a problem.

Thanks for putting my mind at risk everyone.

I'm being silly aren't I? I was concerned pouring the warm gravy onto cold turkey would somehow be a breeding ground for food poisoning!

I caught food poisoning many years ago and developed post infectious IBS (which I still suffer from) so I'm always on edge when reheating meat.

You put it straight in the oven, so you won't have a problem at all, and is in fact exactly how I made a turkey pie the other day, and I'm still here to tell the tale.🙂

If you'd poured warm gravy over the cold turkey and then left it on the side for several hours before cooking, that wouldn't be so great!

Good to hear you survived lol, I'm just about to dish up so no going back now.
