Help, are any mumsnetters passing the St Pancras premier inn next few days

got an inconsolable 11 year old DS. Left his (once) white jellycat bunny, given to him when he was born. It has been temporarily lost before and he has a (almost as old) replacement but obviously it’s not the same. Anyway we are 99% sure it was left in a certain room in the premier inn st Pancras yesterday

Now back at home in Manchester. I am calling the hotel and getting no answer (they are grossly understaffed), I have got a response from Twitter but only that they will pass it on to the hotel which I can’t be sure will get through.

I’m wondering if any very kind mumsnetter may be able to pop in and try and physically ask someone - and/or if we can confirm it is there, pick it up (as I gather that they might not agree to send or just be too busy). Obviously I would pay postage plus a generous tip!

in the meantime wondering if anyone has any happy stories from lost property at the premier inn. Honestly they are so critically understaffed (perhaps deliberately so?) that only turning up in person is likely to get any result.

The postal charges are what usually put me off bidding on anything in the US on Ebay.

It's completely ludicrous, the prices from USA for something that weights a few grammes. Etsy, too.
I apply filters to ''UK only now'', as so often one sees something lovely, and the postage price is astronomical .

Thanks to Brexit, even Europe is risky now for import duties and tax.

Can you get your phone number embroidered onto some ribbon and sew it onto the bunny for future?

Gagagardener · 30/12/2024 15:02

Tears to my eyes! Well done MN - @GoldGoose

@Clearinguptheclutter Good idea! I have a pet tag on a lead that has sentimental value, in case I drop it on a dog walk! {as well as a bigger one on Dog herself} A small tag sewn onto bunny would be good.

backslashruby · 30/12/2024 15:05

Well done@GoldGoose , what a lovely person you are.

TheRealHousewife · 30/12/2024 15:07

@Clearinguptheclutter I find it amazing the finder is called @GoldGoose … as in the Golden Goose ❤️

Let's maybe report the Hitler posts? Completely inappropriate.

I have reported all the hitler and Time Machine comments but I think the poster who started with those didn’t intend for things to take such a dramatic turn to be fair to her

Well, i didn’t cry until OP’s son said that was definitely his bunny

mrpinkwhistlescat · 30/12/2024 15:17

My DS has four of my DGS’s favourite duck.( DGS thinks it’s just the one).
Just in case.

So loved! That bunny is definitely real.

oh no, now I'm thinking about the Velveteen Rabbit. I've had it. OK, who has just had to give their treasured childhood toy a hug.

NotTonightDeidre · 30/12/2024 15:21

This is awesome! So glad the rabbit has been saved - well done @goldgoose

We once left a jellycat cow at The Premier Inn, Bath Road. We did indeed get it back too!

My niece left a bear in a hotel in Spain & they posted it back along with photos of it on the sunbed etc

Thanks gonna think about this or an AirTag but DS says he’s never going to take the bunny with him anywhere in future in case he gets lost. He’s going to become strictly a house rabbit.

That’s a shame you didn’t get it back - my DS lost a hat in DLP a few years ago and I was able to get it the next day from their lost property office (it had fallen off on a ride). I couldn’t believe how many lost hats they had! When I asked if a blue & red one had turned up, they brought out 5 just in those colours. I really wanted to hide it until Christmas that year for Santa to leave it in his stocking with a note.

Edited

We didn’t realise until we were on the way home otherwise would have visited- they outsource the lost property now to a (useless) 3rd party. Though I think physically turning up and asking is likely to be more helpful.

I actually worked there in 1999 and know exactly how much lost property they deal with! I wonder what % is returned

I'm feeling particularly low today and this has made me laugh and cry in equal measure because it's always good to be reminded that there are kind selfless people in the world like @GoldGoose .

I love it when a plan comes together!

NotTonightDeidre · 30/12/2024 15:28

OP, do you have a plan for getting bunny home? We are in London after the new year & then DH is in Manchester mid January. Appreciate you might want to be reunited sooner than that though!

ILoveAnnaQuay · 30/12/2024 15:29

Great news! The power of MumsNet.

Wasn't there a similar story a few years ago when a MNer's child lost her favourite softy and it was found by an MP on her way to the Commons ? I can't remember all the details but it had a happy ending

BetjemansBear · 30/12/2024 15:30

What a lovely story, I'm so glad that Bunny will its way home and all thanks to @GoldGoose !

What a wonderful thing to do. I lost my almost surgically-attached teddy when I was about that age, and as pathetic as it is I still think about him sometimes nearly 30 years later. If I could go back in a time machine I wouldn't put money on the lottery, or kill Hitler. I'd go and get my teddy.

LMFAO! 😂😂😂😂
