A trivial mystery...

This is very trivial and lighthearted. I cannot stress enough that all the people involved love each other very much and love spending time together.

I've just spent a couple of days by the sea with 2 other couples. We do this quite regularly. We always have a big jigsaw set up which has to be finished by the end of the stay. (I know, sad..) Anyway, this time over lunch one day we were fantasising about working in a jigsaw factory and removing a piece from every jigsaw before packing it. One couple left last night. One other person and I sat up to finish the puzzle. There is one piece missing. Now, the dilemma. Coincidence? Accident? Or did the other couple take it with them. If the last- would you laugh? Be a bit upset? Plot revenge? If so, what revenge?

Just put a photo on your WhatsApp group saying ‘fess up-where is it?!’
Doubt they’ve taken it more likely hidden it.

YesExactlyYes · 30/12/2024 08:15

Was it a brand new jigsaw?

Have you checked the surrounding area to see if the piece has fallen on the floor?

Jennyathemall · 30/12/2024 09:11

I would never holiday with them ever again.
Probably best go no contact.

@Jennyathemall "I would never holiday with them ever again.

Yes-that was my first thought....🤣

Trivial? This is a serious matter.

Google Dave Gorman's jigsaw prank to see what such behaviour leads to.

buttonousmaximous · 30/12/2024 11:33

I'm guessing it's a prank. A frustrating one though. I'd photo graph and demand a confession

Planesmistakenforstars · 30/12/2024 11:52

I would throw a cat amongst the pigeons and pretend that there were 3 pieces missing.

pizzaHeart · 30/12/2024 11:55

Whose jigsaw is it?

Any chance you could explain this? I’ve just googled and only found a 6-minute video without subtitles, am in a car on a long journey with family and now dying to know!

DivineHour · 30/12/2024 11:57

Leave a horse’s head on their doorstep.

ShortyShorts · 30/12/2024 11:57

I'd be very upset.

In fact I'd be in pieces...

Snowmanscarf · 30/12/2024 11:57

The couple that has left has a warped sense of humour…

SeatonCarew · 30/12/2024 11:59

Check under the curtains.

Pro tip here. 😉

WomenInConstruction · 30/12/2024 12:01

Hmmm. Assumption of guilt and posting a letter confirming job offer in jigsaw factory to arrive through their letter box by snail mail.

WomenInConstruction · 30/12/2024 12:04

Or download image of competed jigsaw from internet and send it with a 'yay jigsaw done, we and other couple finished it after you'd left, thought you'd like to see' and enjoy their confusion. Full points if you photo shop in background of table in holiday accommodation for completeness of ruse.

Jigsaw companies often use the same die to cut out all jigsaws in one range. He used this attribute to swap pieces between jigsaws. His mum loves Tom Jones, so he gave her a modified jigsaw. Imagine her shock!

Dilbertian · 30/12/2024 12:24

IIRC Mrs Gorman received the one on the left. Some poor charity-shop shopper probably ended up with the one on the right.

Dd hid one of mine...let's say she won't be doing it again...

SadSandwich · 30/12/2024 12:26

Send them a ransom note with letters ripped out from from different newspapers ‘send the missing piece or else…’

Ahh, thank you!

They hid it in my slipper!

I do love Dave Gorman. Thank you for reminding me of him.🤣
