Just that really. Been ill all over Christmas now back at work, was crying last night about having to go back.

I really need a new job but just can't find anything else

Sorry you are feeling that way. 💐

I totally understand. Go back Thursday and already feeling sick with dread.

It's just horrible isn't it. Been in this role
For a year and a half and it's made me miserable, but for practical reasons it is perfect for home life. Just utterly hate it though and feel trapped

I enjoy my job and I'm still full of dread. Pleased that my train has been cancelled and I can put it off by another 15 minutes.

I hope you find something better soon.

What's the job?

I used to feel like this about every job I had until i went self employed!

@LoveHartnett start looking for a new job. You'll find something else that will work around your home life.

I remember feeling this way in a previous job. It came to a head when I was away for a lovely weekend with my then DP and we were having a lovely hotel breakfast and I burst into tears at the thought of going home later that day and having to go to work the next day. That was when I realised I couldn't let a job affect my personal life so badly.

I'm now so much more content in my job and I can't ever envisage me bursting into tears at the thought of it. Yes, I get that sinking feeling the night before returning to work if I've been off for a while, but it soon disappears when I get back into work.

Life's too short, and a job is not worth the toll it's taking on your mental health

Do continue looking, a wrong job is soul destroying.

We had a stressful Christmas and are currenlty stranded for one more day as our flight home from visiting relatives was cancelled last night. I am feeling bad letting my colleagues down at a busy time of year.

But I like my job so the idea of normally being back at the desk is not too bad.

Yes. I've been here 13 years. It's an eccentric job so my portfolio isn't impressive and skillset rusty, plus I am 61. Can't compete with younger, energetic people any more.

I'm well paid with generous annual leave but every day doing pointless work, isolated and wfh, patronized by manager half my age, is soul-crushing. I know that they wish I'd leave.

i can empathise OP, I had a job once that I absolutely hated, I can remember the feeling of dread when returning after a holiday/weekend etc. just keep looking for a new job. Good luck.
