Smart clothes for teen

We have been invited to a fancy formal event. My dds are young teens and live in leggings and hoodies. That would look totally out of place. Little tight dresses wouldn't look great either and actually neither would feel that comfortable in them.
I don't want to spend a fortune because they definitely won't wear these outfits again but has anyone got ideas of where we could start looking for something suitable.
When they were younger I would have gone to Monsoon or Next but the kids stuff would now look too young and the adult stuff too old. Any suggestions greatly received.

My DD is similar in style and she tends to favour a jumpsuit or wideleg trousers with a nice top. John Lewis have some nice ones, and Next can be ok as well, we got this one from Next recently for a fancy party: Buy Lipsy Black Cut Out Flutter Sleeves Jumpsuit (6-16yrs) from the Next UK online shop
If they're never going to wear it again, then Vinted is a great shout. After Christmas people will have all sorts on there brand new with tags.
