Can I tell you about something I can't tell anyone IRL?

Perhaps you would like to share something too?

I can never tell anyone about this because I'm quite ashamed.
When I was a child my parents used to spend a lot of time with our neighbours and they also went on holiday together a couple of times.
One night after they'd had dinner together at our house I went downstairs to find my dad slow dancing with the neighbour. I couldn't see my mum or the neighbour husband.
I asked where my mum was and my dad said 'oh she's next door'

I still find this gross, can't believe they were doing this with us in the house. I suppose it's more common now to open marriages up/ wife swap.

But I hate it, my parents split up anyway not that long after that

I opened this thinking you'd won the lottery or were expecting a dog/raccoon/lizard/baby. Fecking hell, OP. Sounds like it still bothers you. Have you thought about talking it out with a pro?

Sorry lol

I wish I had won the lottery!

I think the break up of your parents marriage affected you a lot more than you think, and this is a key moment in your memory that’s linked to it in your mind.
Its normal to feel hurt and to remember things that link your thoughts to hard/sad times.

@H0TDAY you have nothing to feel ashamed about.

My parents weren't great to each other and I never talk about it, but reading this makes me realise that it's on them and not me.

I have a similar memory from a Nye party my parents had- my mum did some fast dance with a male friend (can't remember the song but hands on hips and dip down in front) in front of a crowd and later I hid behind the sofa and saw my dad slow dance with the male friends wife with no one around. I must have been about 6? Maybe it was something couples did in the past, can't imagine it happening these days! FYI My parents are still together.

ETA I just re-read and realised your parents were probably swinging! Mine definitely weren't, ignore me 🙈

I was nearly given up for adoption

This is treated like a secret worse than a murder and is never allowed to be discussed

I only found out because a number of things didn't add up and I did some digging
