It's been a tough year here, but I have made lots of positive changes in my life and want to keep the momentum going.

So I would love to ask what your highlights of the year have been? A new habit, fab holiday, anything big or absolutely tiny, I would love to hear for inspiration.

Thanks in advance!

Switched roles through a sideways move to one which is much more rewarding. Ran my first 10km race. Re-started a fruit and veg box delivery and not only improved my diet but am trying lots of new things I wouldn't normally buy

imnotthatkindofmum · 29/12/2024 19:24

Started losing weight. Right at the end of the year but I've lost a stone and feeling good!

I got a new job, in a new country in a new language, it will be a year in abour three weeks. Its been really hard working in a different language and I’m just getting to the point where my head doesn’t feel like it will explode at the end of a work day.

TwirlyPineapple · 29/12/2024 19:27

Lost 80lbs. Had several lovely holidays with my son and husband. Firmly decided we're one and done. Went back to work and found a good job that suits our life really well.

leesmum · 29/12/2024 19:28

Ran in the public 10k in the Paris Olympics, one of the best things I've ever done just for ME!

ShinyWorthKeeping · 29/12/2024 19:28

Had my surprise baby in July and got engaged 24th December.
Its been an extremely hard couple of years and despite having my older dd 13 years ago and declaring myself one and done, having littlest dd has been wonderful.
Dd13 was a massively traumatic labour and her dad (Exh) was abusive towards me.
Partner is lovely and it seems so strange (also bittersweet) being a mum again without all the trauma.

My teenage DS died of cancer in April. In September I did a skydive in his memory and raised lots of money for a charity that has given us lots of amazing support throughout treatment and since he passed away. I never, ever thought I would jump out of a plane and my mum still can't believe it!

LindorDoubleChoc · 29/12/2024 19:34

Left my job, embarked on a new training programme and hopefully a new career.

Given up smoking (again! hopefully 7th/8th/9th whatever it is time lucky).

That's about it tbh. Not many achievements in a whole 12 months :(

Muz20 · 29/12/2024 19:42

I finally plucked up the courage and got braces. I’m 41 and it’s something I’ve wanted for years! In 18 months to 2 years I’ll no longer smile with my mouth closed in photos 😂😬

Thepossibility · 29/12/2024 19:42

Quit my job. Brought a new fur baby into the family. I stood by my boundaries with my dysfunctional family that I had made the year before and even refused to go to their Christmas dinner which was incredibly freeing.

ChristmasEveNotChristmasSteve · 29/12/2024 19:42

Found a house we want to buy and are now in the process of buying!

nonbinaryfinery · 29/12/2024 19:44

Took several naps.

Thejugglestruggle · 29/12/2024 19:47

Lost 5 stone. The difference in terms of health, confidence, wardrobe options, skin and hair vibrancy. 2025 is the year to maintain!

AlisonDonut · 29/12/2024 19:49

Took up pottery.

inquisitiveinga · 29/12/2024 19:53

Had my second (and final) baby!

Watched my son become the most amazing big brother.

You're amazing x

Lovely thread OP, thank you.
I have got fit, now exercise 3-4 hours a week and have re found my love of swimming, made a few new friends as a result, moved on from some unhealthy people in my life, (hopefully) sold my house, had therapy, sorted my pension out (finally), and got my teeth sorted! It's been a really good (and difficult) year

I trebled my salery. 22.5k in January, 44.5k in February, 63.8k in September.

I did this, in part, by not disclosing my salary when applying for the job in Feb, just going to town on my skills. They then promoted me 6 months in.

Amazing! What do you do?

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 29/12/2024 20:01

I’m ending the year 3.5 stone lighter than I started it. Every year I vow to lose weight and this year, I’ve achieved it! Still 1.5 to go but can’t believe how much better I feel in so many ways.

I also reconnected with my dad after many years and hope to build on this.

My confidence has grown and I’m starting to feel like me again!

bakewellbride · 29/12/2024 20:01

We adopted a dog. I honestly love him more than I could've ever imagined, he is such a beautiful soul and I love looking after him even though he costs a bloody fortune!

PickledOwl1 · 29/12/2024 20:11

Lost 5 stone and regained a normal
BMI once more

StMarie4me · 29/12/2024 20:16

Travelled alone to the USA to an event that I'd wanted to attend for 30 years. Booked it all myself. Never done anything like it! Was amazing and made new very special friends!

FortWalton · 29/12/2024 20:18

Went LC with my SD. Such a relief to stop pushing against a closed door after 20+ years!

Pinkpank · 29/12/2024 20:20

I got a new Jib in a new sector this Year. It's very low wage, very challenging environment and I'm highly over qualified but I'm so happy there. Never been in a position to actually look forward to going back to Work in the new year!

unsync · 29/12/2024 20:20

Losing weight. Lots of weight, sorting out eating and exercising regularly and consistently.

Going on holiday with my bestie. Bliss. Doing it again next year.
