It's been a tough year here, but I have made lots of positive changes in my life and want to keep the momentum going.

So I would love to ask what your highlights of the year have been? A new habit, fab holiday, anything big or absolutely tiny, I would love to hear for inspiration.

Thanks in advance!

Had a baby. Being on maternity leave and spending time with him has really made me reassess my priorities.

It’s also a much less of a big deal than having a baby. But a signed up for a side gig website. Ended up on a project that’s been bringing in the same income as my usual full time job. I signed up on a whim and it’s made maternity leave much less painful financially.

Please share details on that. I am a project manager by trade is that the kind of project you mean?

Had a breast reduction.

Congrats. I had one 17 years ago in early 20's and considering another.

Do they still have to use the drains? That was the worst hit for me

BeachRide · 29/12/2024 19:06

Lost 6 stones and got fitter 😀

Neverknowwhattohave · 29/12/2024 19:07

This thread is so beautiful to read.
I left my cheating husband and our divorce is nearly finalised.
Managed to stay in the family home which I never thought was possible.
Met a man who made me so happy, although this didn’t last long he made me realise I can be happy again.
Lost nearly two stone and have recently joined the gym.
Most importantly my children are happier than they have ever been.
It has been the hardest year of my life but looking back there have been a lot of positives to come from it.

New job which I am absolutely loving - have been a SAHM for the last 10 years. Did not see this coming, fell into my lap really but I should also give myself some credit for saying yes and taking the risk. I’m good at that sort of thing. Obviously has totally changed our lifestyle as kids need to be in after school club etc but I am loving the work-life balance!

Has involved retraining/learning on the job and should properly qualify in the next few months. So not a small deal actually. Go me!

DesparatePragmatist · 29/12/2024 19:11

Invested in my health, going to a private thyroid doctor in February and starting weight loss injections in May. I feel like a different person, zest for life is back. Actually, even though this year's health achievements are life-changing, it feels like they've just got me to the starting line for next year's goals, which is to work on my career and relationship, which felt totally impossible before. Health really is the prerequisite for everything else.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 29/12/2024 19:11

We got a puppy in May, after three years with no dog since our previous boy died. I can't believe what a difference she has made to my mental health. It's been hard work having a young puppy again after so long, but I love her so much ❤People keep telling me I'm like a different person since we got her. She is my world.

Had a beautiful UK holiday which fitted my DD to a T and just made the whole thing wonderful.

BahHumbug24 · 29/12/2024 19:14

Quit my job and gone self employed. Currently having the whole Christmas holidays off with my kids and not chopping away at my annual leave. Plus I'm better off.

20+ of us went a big family holiday to an amazing hotel and had the best week ever.

Can you shags where you went?

ShadesmarBead · 29/12/2024 19:15

Resigned from working in the NHS.
Recovered from severe burnout, anxiety and depression.
Made a commitment to myself to never return to working for the health service again.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 29/12/2024 19:16

I went to Paris for the first time and it was everything I dreamed and more
Got the travel bug and planning my next trip
And after a very tough few years I feel really happy in my own skin again. I think this was the year I learned I am enough.

fiddleleaffig · 29/12/2024 19:16

Finished Uni (postgrad) and graduated even though it was very touch and go at times.

Wegovy - finally lost the weight I'd been trying for years to shift

Going no-contact with the in-laws. So much peace now.

aodirjjd · 29/12/2024 19:17

Beat cancer 💪💪💪

TwinkleLights24 · 29/12/2024 19:18

Moved to a beautiful new build. I know they aren’t to everyone’s taste but mine is perfect and has made me very happy.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 29/12/2024 19:19

Started a new teaching job in January - went from working 7.30-6 in a high pressure environment with an SLT who have no concern at all for staff wellbeing. I was approaching burnout. I now work 8.30-4 in a lovely school where I feel valued and cared for, where I feel I am really making a difference and now have a fantastic work life balance, where I never take work home. It has been truly life changing.

Also went to Las Vegas this year for my 40th birthday. Had a fantastic time with wonderful friends and got to see the Grand Canyon which was something I’d always wanted to do.

I don’t get the impression it was that sort of holiday 🤣

teatoast8 · 29/12/2024 19:21

Fell pregnant a third time. Feel blessed

wineandsunshine · 29/12/2024 19:21

Continued using strategies to keep my anxiety at bay...positive mindset which has helped in a stressful teaching role!

Also, started Pilates in September and I'm loving it!
