Advice please on returns policy

Hi everyone ! So we bought a family member some boots for Xmas , they were expensive put it that way and we all chipped in. The boots were bought from a reputable stockist of a branded boot.

I bought the boots on the 27th Nov and they came the next day. I checked the boots for left and right and then placed them back in the box for Xmas. I noticed the boots came in 2 separate bags which I thought was strange but I don't wear this brand so didn't think anything of it.

Family member received item on Xmas day however has reported that they feel one boot is slightly wider than the other ( they have narrow and regular fit ) and also slightly different colour. I have sinc e found out that these boots should come in one bag . It therefore seems that these are potentially two separate boots

The returns policy is 28 days and I think we are about 31 days now . I will ring tomorrow but if they refuse to accept return will I have a leg to stand on ? Could this class as faulty goods ? Anyone had any experience with or anything that can be cited to help my case

TIA

Have you checked the return policy? From Black Friday onwards and sometimes earlier a lot of stores introduce an extended returns period as they know people will be buying items to give as Christmas presents and so the items may not be tried on or used for the first time within the typical 30 day return period.

Unfortunately all I can see is that it is 28 days 😩

I have had a similar issue before and it turned out that they were a pair but one had been used as a display shoe in the shop and had faded/stretched due to being tried on a lot.

I think your rights with faulty goods is different to your standard "28 days to change your mind" policy.
So I believe the 28 days thing won't apply

Most retailers have an extended returns policy where you can return anything bought from November onwards until January. Search "name of retailer extended returns period" or "name of retailer Christmas returns".

However, you have been sent a faulty item which is separate from the returns period. You have six months to return a faulty item. Send an email to their Customer Services and explain what's happened. The retailer has to give you a refund/exchange or prove that they sent you the correct item.

Is this Fairfax and Favor by any chance?

This is what I think has happened tbh . Did you have a positive experience in getting things sorted ?

@Marsh212 they do always come in 2 separate dustbags. If you have no luck with the stockist (and they're normally pretty good) try f&f customer service directly, they normally resolve any problems very quickly, their customer service is second to none. At the top of each boot where is says the size inside, is there NF or SF printed at all?

RabbitsRock · 29/12/2024 09:08

OP you did make me smile - talking about boots & asking if you’ll have a leg to stand on 🤣

@Justonedayatatime11 ahhhh sorry I have been misinformed there ! Yeh so they both say NF but one is just so much wider than the other and slightly lighter in appearance ! Like it's been worn 😩 I have sent an email to the retailer and just hoping I don't receive any resistance back

So they are happy to accept a return thankfully ! Think it comes under faulty goods ! They are going to try and source a new pair from F&F but they said it might not be possible in which case I will get a full refund.

Bit of a bummer really as it's ruined the present completely but hey ho there are much worse things happening!
