What are your plans for NYE if you have kids? We've got two under five so staying at home and having a nice dinner. Used to love going out but doesnt seem worth it somehow while the kids are this young. Whats everyone else doing?

I'm planning on a quiet night in, it is what I usually do at NYE to be fair.

The difference this year is that my two DCs are having a dozen or so friends round for the evening.

I'm planning on decamping to the snug with food and drink 🙏.

I had many wonderful nye's in my past. Nowadays we don't even stay up. We like to mark the start of the new year with a walk instead.

After hosting a party last year I was absolutely not doing the same again. Me and DH going out for dinner. DD is out at a party and DS will have friends round to stay over, drink cider, play guitars and play on PS5. Everyone's happy 😄

It's my birthday so a nice dinner and bed.

I gave up celebrating birthday a long time ago.

We have been invited to a party at a friends but not sure if we’ll go Dh has been ill over Christmas and I’ve had a rubbish couple of months and not really in the mood however Dd is working from 4.00 pm until 2.00 am so we are taking her out for lunch before she goes which I’m looking forward too

FluffyDiplodocus · 28/12/2024 18:26

DH and I are staying in, drinking Prosecco and we have an escape room thing that MIL bought us for Christmas to do. I’m planning to eat most of a breaded cheese selection to myself also 🐷

Do you all get the kids involved? We dont usually include them much but maybe should now they are a bit older.

DS is 5 so still too young to stay up late. We're planning to do some errands in the morning and then go for lunch at a really nice Italian restaurant. We'll play games in the afternoon and then in the evening, DH and I will share a bottle of champagne and watch Day of the Jackal.

OnlyMothersInTheBuilding · 28/12/2024 19:12

I'm a lone parent and always find it a bit lonely. We've been invited around to friends for the evening but midnight will be a push for my 5 year old so probably at home with cocoa again.

I've got 2 dc under 7 and I'll take them out during the day to a family rave, they'll have a dance and a countdown at midday. Then we'll have lunch out and chill out at home in the evening. I usually stay up to watch the fireworks on TV (and can usually see some from the window), but DH is usually asleep by 10pm.
