Special present for a special person

My lovely nephew lost his mum a few weeks ago and didn't really have much of a Christmas. Now he has a birthday coming up and I would love to get him a great present. Not necessarily a sentimental gift but just something a bit special. He will be turning twenty-four. Any suggestions?

Having recently lost my dad, I think any 'Object' gift will just be a reminder of an awful time. Maybe an 'Experience' gift? Whatever he's into? That way he will still have the memory but it will be more ephemeral?

Thanks Knopka, that's what I was feeling too. My nephew loves animals, so maybe an experience to do with that?

London Zoo does experiences with animals: DC2 went into the enclosure of some small mobiles and fed them. Afterwards they said "this is the best day of my life". Then aged 18.

Monkeys not mobiles

something you can do together would be nice. A trip to the zoo? Camel racing? Afternoon tea with llamas?

@Goodwitch9 Wildlife day out?

if you're in this part of the country

Depending on where you are and how much you're willing to spend, these are incredibly memorable...

Wow!

Needless to say I haven't done one but I live nearby and I've heard good things.
