Champneys - Tring or Henlow

I'm looking at booking - any thoughts on what the differences are? I'm looking for complete R&R, mostly lounging by a pool with a book. It will be winter, so indoors is more important than outdoors.

Also - the food - I'm unfortunately a bit picky, I'm nervous about the emphasis on healthy food....

Following, feeling the need for this myself........

I have been to both, and found them lovely. Henlow's gardens are gorgeous. However... have you looked at TripAdvisor? Reviews are very mixed. Looks like the whole chain needs to be renovated and updated. Springs is also very tired, and the food isn't a patch on what it used to be.

I'd recommend Aqua Sana at Center Parcs in Woburn instead. Gorgeous. Lovely food and great service.

Yep, been reading the reviews with trepidation. They've got some great winter deals on at the moment but I'm really unsure.

I went to Tring recently, had a lovely time. Food was very good and a decent selection. However, I went in September and the weather was mild and sunny so we could lounge about outside which was great. If it had been raining or very cold I'm not sure if the amount of space and seats / loungers was enough and it may have felt crowded.

We went to Tring in September and had the most spectacularly awful time. When we arrived they had no clean robes and just gave me a dirty one (make up stains around the neck 🤮). We got there at 12.30 and headed straight to the cafe which on the website advertised a full lunch menu. They had no savoury food at all. Went back to reception after a coffee in the hope that they may have some clean robes by now (they didn’t). And then I decided to sit in the relaxation room while waiting for my treatment. While I was “relaxing” in one of the noisiest, busiest places I’ve ever been, a ceiling tile fell on top of me. The worst thing was that none of the staff even pretended to care. When I went to complain I was told I couldn’t speak to anyone and needed to email my complaint. Nobody ever responded to the email despite a couple of chasers. I wouldn’t go back if you paid me.

Tring food is lovely, everything else is dire.

Right then. Mn has confirmed what I thought from other reviews... where else? Ideally within Oxon, Bucks, Northants, Warks, Glos or close.

I mentioned Aqua Sana upthread...

I would definitely swerve Champneys. I haven’t been for a while so you’d need to check the reviews but Mallory Court in Warwickshire might be worth considering…

I went to Champneys in Ting last year. The overall spa was lovely but the food was horrendous and the massage rooms were falling apart! I wrote to complain and gave them very detailed feedback on how the could improve (including buffet style lunches instead of the school dinner crap we were served)! I saw an influencer review it a few months ago, and had taken on board my changes but didn't think to tell me or invite me back to try! There are 1000 other spas I would recommend than Champneys!
