Buying a fridge

FridgeQuestion · 28/12/2024 12:35

I need to buy a new fridge - usually DH would select but he's not involved at the moment. How do I pick something that's reliable and good value?

I'll need full height, usual width, it will be free standing on its own, need delivery.

Thank you!

Go onto ao, put into your parameters (width, height, colour etc) see what's available. My fridge is Samsung but there isn't a huge amount between brands however they all have different price points for different features

Check your measurements, whether you want just fridge, fridge/freezer etc. frost free, retro look, how many shelves do you want? water dispensers reduce the space in the fridge and need plumbing so are a more complex install.

Go on a website (appliances direct, Currys, Argos, AO etc)
Narrow the search with your measurements, preferred colour, budget
Look at the customer reviews online for any specific models you are interested in.
Also check the energy rating.
Also check if delivery is free or charged and if required whether they will take your old appliance away
You will be surprised at how fast they can deliver. Do you need delivered to door or kitchen? Will they take the packing away?

When it is delivered insist on taking the packing off to make sure no damage before you accept delivery. If they are third party couriers and will not stick around for this unpack immediately and take photos if there is damage and send to customer services of the company you bought it from.

Let fridge settle for a good 12 hours before turning on
