Do all beds with wooden slats squeak, or just cheap/old ones?

We have a super-king size wooden bed frame from Ikea that we bought about 25 years ago. It has moved house with us a few times so has been disassembled and reassembled. It squeaks like crazy when we move around in it, but I can't remember if it always did that or whether it got worse over time. We also have a double guest bed with wooden slats bought from John Lewis in 2018, and that squeaks too, though it was a relatively cheap one. I'm thinking of replacing these beds but only because of the squeaks - if so, must I avoid wooden slats altogether, or just choose more carefully? I do like to have a big space under beds for storage so would prefer not to go down the divan route.

We always tighten the screws in our bed when it starts squeaking

Does that silence it?

Yepp it does! It's annoying but I suppose it's hard to avoid the screws coming loose, especially when we've a 2 year old who loves jumping on the bed! 😅

It's old ones, our old one was awful and our new one is silent still after 2 years. I think a good quality thick mattress helps too.
Ours has an ottoman built in and lifts from the bottom of the bed, solid frame around it and metal outline with wooden slats, i imagine the frame probably helps avoid creaking movement compared to legs, and the storage is useful.
