Wrottesley Road.

My satnav told me to turn onto Ruzzley Road.

I would say Rots-lee

Middlemarch123 · 27/12/2024 15:37

Rotters-lee Road

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 27/12/2024 15:37

I would have guessed rot-zlee

Many years ago I was driving around Glasgow and the sat nav told me to follow a sign for Tradeston.

She pronounced it trad-ess-ton rather than trades-ton.

Sounds like a wanky way to pronounce a non-descript area. Like the New Gorbaahls.

See, that's what the locals in my car also said: Rot-slee or Rot-ez-lee. They were just as puzzled.

Mine seems to think Stowupland is really called Stow-planned and always struggled with Stradbroke (Stradbrook, not 'broke') but then I live in Suffolk where lots of place names cause her to throw a tantrum.

On the M27 ours always tells us to go towards ‘Sutton Docks’ it means Southampton but the road signs are abbreviated to So’ton Docks.
