We're currently on our 4th day of thick fog and I'm wondering how widespread around the country it is....
I live near Worcester.

Yorkshire here - yes to fog - quite eerie

Theunamedcat · 27/12/2024 18:59

Didn't it start when the pope did that ritual? Maybe he released the dementors

AnyFucker · 27/12/2024 19:03

I love fog (only if I don’t have to drive or fly)

Atmospheric British weather is great

I've just travelled from the NW to the SE and there's been no let up in the fog from start to finish.

User28473 · 27/12/2024 19:10

I've driven from Liverpool to London today and the fog has been the same thickness from start to end. A lot of accidents on the motorway, it's been a very slow and long drive.

East Midlands - Christmas Day was gorgeous blue skies but Boxing Day and today has just been thick fog!

FlyingFlamingo · 27/12/2024 19:15

I drove from south wales to the midlands and back yesterday and today, there were some patches of bright blue sky and atmospheric cloud inversion but it was mostly thick fog. I’ve driven the route hundreds of times but there are currently major roadworks along the heads of the valleys road whilst they build new flyovers/make it into a dual carriageway. At several points due to the fog and roadworks diverting off the main road I had no idea where I actually was, it was quite unsettling!
Tomorrow doesn’t look any better, I need to see some sun!

Anyone else google the difference between fog and mist today? I am sure we have fog but Met Office, thinks mist!

niclw · 27/12/2024 19:20

I've been in Cambridgeshire for a few days and it's been foggy to some extent since Christmas day morning but drive through south Suffolk and some of Essex today and it's foggy there too.

We definitely have fog you can't see more than about 25 yards or so.

SantaBakula · 27/12/2024 19:31

My bit of Manchester has been foggy for 3 days and it's denser this evening. I am glad I don't need to be anywhere.

ZenNudist · 27/12/2024 19:33

Have just come back from where OP is and it was really foggy. Manchester is not quite so foggy.

TokyoSushi · 27/12/2024 19:36

Foggy in Warrington for about 3 days now, time for it to move on!

garlictwist · 27/12/2024 19:38

It's been a glorious blue sky and sunny day today in the hills of Yorkshire. Started off foggy but it had gone by 10am.

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 27/12/2024 19:40

A light mist here on the Sefton coast, barely noticeable. However, I paid a quick visit to the local Aldi this afternoon, a few miles away over the border in West Lancashire, and there was quite a heavy low-lying mist over the fields. No problems with visibility on the roads.

wellshucks · 27/12/2024 19:43

In Malvern so just down the road. There are inverted clouds up the hills at the moment, you can climb through the fog and its blue skies!

PerambulationFrustration · 27/12/2024 19:43

I think we're all going to die of vitamin d deficiency. I'm sure there's only been about 8 days of sunshine for the whole year.

AthenaWhite · 27/12/2024 19:46

Thick all day in East Kent. Really spooky. Makes me think of that film The Others.

Clearinguptheclutter · 27/12/2024 19:46

3rd day of it here. Greater Manchester. We’re near the airport and that doesn’t look like a fun place to be at the moment

Moonflower12 · 27/12/2024 19:54

Very foggy here in rural South Warwickshire. We couldn't see more than 50 yards.

Letstheriveranswer · 27/12/2024 19:58

Cambridgeshire, started getting foggy Christmas night and very thick now.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 27/12/2024 20:09

Foggy on the journey to Barnard castle from Kirby Lonsdale today but the brief glimpses of sunshine were lovely Smile

TheFogsGettingThicker · 27/12/2024 20:16

Foggy up here on the NW coast, today and yesterday. Christmas Day was clear, thankfully

TheHouseElf · 27/12/2024 20:19

Same in South Bucks. Our 4th, or maybe 5th day in a row now and sick to death of it tbh. Not that its ever seems very good anymore anyway, just whited-out skies here most days. Its so unusual, wonder what's the cause of it.

Isseywith2witchycats · 27/12/2024 20:58

Its been clear all day in Halifax but the fog is moving in
