We're currently on our 4th day of thick fog and I'm wondering how widespread around the country it is....
I live near Worcester.

What the fog is everyone talking about? Not a hint of it here in Berkshire…I have serious FO(G)MO…

It’s bit of an odd situation…Berkshire is relatively in the clear by the looks of it, Heathrow airport last reported 4300 metres visibility and hasn’t officially gone into fog ( that’s defined as visibility <1000 metres) all day, but they are the outlier as far as southern UK goes…pretty much everywhere else is much worse.

Gatwick is 600 metres in Fog, more typically you’ve got Bristol reporting 250 metres, Birmingham 300 metres Manchester 200 metres…

Yuk…..

We live on top of a hill in the north of Scotland and have had fog all day

Very unusual for us - and so I had a shower, put on clean pjs and watched tv all day. Couldn't bear to go out in it.

KnickerlessParsons · 27/12/2024 15:39

I'd say heavy mist rather than fog, but it's been around since Christmas Eve.
North Wiltshire.

Theunamedcat · 27/12/2024 15:44

East Kent and yes it's been pretty continuous for 3 days. I quite like it.

I hate it. You don't drive?

Elderflower14 · 27/12/2024 15:52

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 27/12/2024 16:07

Currently sitting in a small fogbound airport waiting for a flight to a smaller foggier airport and totally fed up

schtompy · 27/12/2024 16:09

Have it usually 5/7 days through winter, it’s depressing, hence I’m moving, 7 years of it living on top of a hill isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! Today? Beautiful n sunny, lower down in Cheshire foggy.

LividBauble · 27/12/2024 12:48

It’s genuinely sending me loopy.

I NEED SOME PROPER DAYLIGHT BY GOD

Yes dear God I just want a ray of sunshine! Even if it's cold!

Very foggy here in the NW

VoluptuaSneezelips · 27/12/2024 16:10

Im in Manchester, quite an urban area so we don't often get fog. We've had a mild floating fog the last few days but today it's got worse throughout the day. Right now is really really thick, more like the fog we used to get when I lived rural and has descended to the ground. Feels alot colder too, a real chill to the air even though my heating is on.

Redshoeblueshoe · 27/12/2024 16:13

I'm in Manchester too, and it's got much worse in the last hour.

HilaryThorpe · 27/12/2024 16:14

Day 3 here in Normandy.

bookworm14 · 27/12/2024 16:15

We’ve just been driving round the M25 in it. Not pleasant!

Just done a quick around the airports and looks like Manchester airport is one of the leaders, and in fact is possibly leading the foggiest airport contest.

Hope you don’t get too cold.

We had it yesterday driving from Kent to Colchester and the same back today. Visibility was ok on the roads. The Dartford Crossing was so foggy that you couldn’t see the river, but again visibility was fine on the road. It’s getting heavier here now as it’s getting darker but we’re tucked in the warm watching Wallace & Gromit 😁

BoobyDazzler · 27/12/2024 16:18

It’s a right pea souper in the Black Country.

Liesmorelies · 27/12/2024 16:22

I'm in Nottingham and we've had 2 days of it. I love it - it sets off the fairy lights beautifully and justifies me not going anywhere. I love seeing it when I venture to the kitchen for more snacks/refills.

Mespher · 27/12/2024 18:31

Just had a newsflash that it's affecting the flights at Gatwick and Manchester
