Unwanted gifts & resale …wondering the story behind them, especially the expensive ones!

Browsing Vinted, wondering how some people get it so wrong…

£800 resale of an unwanted Moncler coat.
£275 resale if a Charlotte Tilbury beauty box.

I might not have chosen my £20 pyjamas, but can live with them!

Rich men (and probably some women, but haven't met any!) can be so clueless.

I had a very rich boss - I actually liked him a lot. Business brilliant but a disaster with anything practical. Gave me a v shiny Amex to go buy his wife something on the 23rd December 3 hours before we left the office for the holidays, budget 2k 😂 Genuinely assumed because I had decent taste, I could pick out something beautiful that a woman I had never met and knew nothing about, would like!

I assume fake / stolen tbh

Yup, nicked or snide. Otherwise they'd be returning them for a full price refund or exchange, surely?

The Moncler coat has an authentication in place so not fake.

Stolen possibly.

I hadn't though of that, was thinking more Christmas break up, perhaps not to style, allergies that a partner has ignored ( beauty box), a bit of a story. 😉

What did you buy her?

JollyHollyMe · 27/12/2024 12:45

Some is prostitution/sugar daddy

Applepoop · 27/12/2024 12:46

Unwanted gift is an easy way to sell stolen stuff.

Needmorelego · 27/12/2024 12:52

Going by the budgets some people on Mumsnet have an £800 coat is nothing 😂
I also assume it's a "thoughtfully chosen" gift which is the only thing mumsnetters buy (yet everyone else buys them "tat")
😂😂
(lighthearted and sarcastic)

I'm admitting I did send back an expensive item of jewellery, just because I couldn't justify hundreds of pounds spent on something that I wasnt that fussed about.

Didn't sell it on though, just had a difficult conversation with giver.
