Is your hallway tidy?

How do you keep your coats from looking like a gigantic mass of coats hanging on hooks? Do you only keep one coat for each person on the hooks in the hallway? What do you do with the other coats? Where do you store them?

Does you hallway look sleek and tidy? Care to share a pic?

Coats on the banister, boots and shoes, a bag of presents for someone we haven't managed to see yet, a couple of cat toys. No tidy at all. As long as I can get to the floor to clean it, I'm not bothered.

My house was clearly designed by a single man with small feet and zero interest in sports/ outdoor activities.

DH's size 12 canoes shoes are too big for the width of the floor and get kicked everywhere by the dyspraxic teenager and end up strewn everywhere. There isn't space for storage and it's a long, thin space. We need things at point of use and keeping coats/ shoes upstairs would be basically saying "please add 15 more minutes of faff time every single bloody time I attempt to leave the house."

It was tidy on Monday. Briefly. But a family live here and it's just not a pretty outcome that lasts.
