NYE plans - alcohol free

What do you do NYE if you don’t drink / go out ?

I simply don’t like drinking anymore . I’ll have the occasional glass of wine , but I am just not into getting drunk and I don’t want to have a hangover New Year’s Day. I don’t like new years anyway in all honesty as I always see it as the end of Christmas . I have done it in previous years , and the feeling of a hangover on an already depressing day is just horrible.

I like to be awake and refreshed New Year’s Day - a good clean of the house , decorations down and just feel like I’m ready to go for the new year!

So - tell me your new years plans if you aren’t drinking ? I never want to be asleep as the clock strikes 12 , I do like to say happy new year to my husband and children etc but the past few years it’s been straight to bed after and I’m more than happy with that but I would like to do something .

Go out for a nice meal, I’ve found a place near me with a stunning looking tasting menu, and with no alcohol it will be a) cheaper and b) easy getting home.

New Years Day I go to Parkrun, normally to run or walk, but sometimes to volunteer as it’s a fabulous atmosphere and then a hearty breakfast when I get home.

We have a house party and there are
non drinkers / designated drivers attending.

there is food, board games, Hogmanay tv on as well as mocktails and alcohol.

At the Bells we go outside and watch the fireworks. Everyone kisses and then starts to head home. Lifts provided by the non drinkers.

I like a glass of wine but haven’t had anything over Christmas apart from a pint of cider after a 9 mile walk.

NYE is a working day, Chinese and bed at 10 with a glass of water and a very dry mouth after the food!

Jools Holland's Hootenanny on BBC2, although it starts so close to midnight, it's barely worth it now. See the bagpipes at 12, then I go to bed. I find 1st January the most depressing day of the year. Same rubbish all over again.
