And it was sold out before Christmas

They were still on the shelf in mine on Christmas Eve. Depends if they're seeing it as an item people will get for NYE. It might be.

Flapjacker48 · 26/12/2024 18:50

No.

theduchessofspork · 26/12/2024 18:51

Er, no - it won’t be all that tho. Get in there early in 25.

I disagree - it was amazing!

JMSA · 26/12/2024 18:54

I usually get the milk chocolate fresh Yule log.
It was out of stock in my local store, so I bought the white chocolate and passion fruit one instead. Delicious!

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 26/12/2024 18:57

Ours were out of stock unfortunately on Xmas eve I was hoping they re stock for new years?

Ours did not restock last year as I wanted the raspberry panne cotta last year and the it was sold out before Xmas and I tried for new year! This year I got a fresh chocolate Yule log and the panne cotta - both very nice (hosting Xmas and Boxing Day for 10 - not just greedy!)

MerryMaker · 26/12/2024 19:10

We bought one, but wanted another one for NYE, but dates were not okay.

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 26/12/2024 21:15

So Xmas over for them, no yule log?

Yup

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 26/12/2024 21:18

I'm finding that really hard to accept.
DoThey do any special food for new years then?

Agree, it was bloody lovely.

NeatJoker · 26/12/2024 21:44

We got the chocolate yule log - didn’t like it at all. So so sweet and sickly and heavy. Most of it is still in the fridge.

thesunisastar · 26/12/2024 21:46

Would you consider making one OP? I make the Nigella Lawson one every year, it isn't too tricky and only needs pretty basic ingredients.

Agree, much too sickly and sweet and the sponge seemed dry. We had a piece each tonight but nobody finished it and the rest will go in the bin

Lucylaughing · 26/12/2024 22:05

No, I don't think you will find one now. They won't restock - as it's a seasonal line and it will all come in a fixed amount from the supplier ahead of Xmas and each store will get their allocation to sell through.
If it's like our Yule Log it probably isn't worth looking in other stores either - ours has best before 27.12 so I don't think it will be on sale tomorrow.

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 30/12/2024 13:27

I had a look and no you are all correct it's over 😢. I thought we were still in the Christmas season!!

If you mean the Chocolate & Hazelnut buche, then you have missed nothing - the hazelnut flavouring was so strong, and the general texture so claggy, no one here could finish a slice, and we're pretty hardcore Yule Log scoffers.

Igmum · 30/12/2024 13:44

Might be worth trawling round all of your local M&Ss to see if any have some still in stock (though the Best Ever ones were very short dated)

3smallpups · 30/12/2024 13:48

I normally make one
Got sucked in by the m and s at Xmas tv thing and bought this , it's really not that nice
I mean it's fine , edible , but not amazing
You honestly haven't missed anything if that helps

Agree. Thankfully I didn't buy it; DH brought it home un-started from a pot luck thing (that should have been a warning).
It was definitely not there's-yule-log-and-then-there's-M&S-yule-log...
