The Christmas tree is down!

Just taken down the main living room tree, absolute workout getting it back in the box and as usual I found a couple of stars once I'd packed away the decorations.

Trying to get all the trees down today so I can deep clean the house before New Years.

Anyone else just want their space back and taking decorations down today?

Don't forget apparently we're all social media influencers who do it for attention according to @Mumofnarnia

Haven’t said you’re a social media influencer. I Said you like to keep up with them or be the first to put up your tree and take it down. Just completely attention seeking and making a thread about it proves that 😂

mathanxiety · 26/12/2024 18:20

Is Christmas over?

The slow down of socialising isn't necessarily a bad thing. It allows for a recharge, time with your household/family, me time etc.

Or you could socialise differently. Just coffee catch ups, time in each others homes and so on. Not everything needs to be as "festive" as Christmas plans to be joyful. It's all about how you look at it.

I'm not saying it is. Just putting forward reasons why some people, including me, dislike January and February. There's not much to look forward to at that time of year.

I'm 61, I don't want or need to be socialising like a mad thing!! One good thing I do look forward to in January is snowdrops! And I tell myself that February is short.

I do feel better in myself come March, with daffodils, and primroses, and buds starting to form on the trees - and the days are noticeably longer.

A manky house?! Wtf? Are YOU religious? Surely not because that comment isn't very Christian

She said she had to clean the house. It's a perfectly reasonable conclusion to come to.

A lot of people clean their homes thoroughly before Christmas.

Not sure if you’re being intentionally obtuse or you genuinely can’t understand. Christmas traditions are traditions that relate to Christmas - these are just traditional family activities in December.

You’re not reading my posts - these traditions are those we do at Christmas - we associate them with Christmas. Many are only available to do at Christmas. Not sure how many different ways I can spell this out. This is how we celebrate Christmas.

Surely you’re not trying to tell me how we should celebrate Christmas traditions ? Your Christmas traditions may be different but doesn't mean mine are wrong.

ReadingSoManyThreads · 26/12/2024 18:24

No, because it's STILL Christmas.

It's always the weirdos who put their plastic artificial trees up in early-mid November that take them down on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

AnyoneSomeone · 26/12/2024 18:24

Only on MN would taking your tree down before March mean you have a manky house.

AnyoneSomeone · 26/12/2024 18:25

Christmas is over for me. I've eaten all the cheese footballs and trifle. So that's your lot.

As I've said previously I don't use social media, so I have no idea what influencers do around Christmas time. I've shared previously why my trees went up so early and why I've taken them down on boxing day.

Seems you have a huge issue with Christmas and people who aren't religious/do things you consider non traditional.

Perhaps in 2025 you could make it a goal to broadened your mind and accept people are different. It might make you a more pleasant person.

Good lord don't ask that, you'll start off the religious posters again.

Oh there will be some reason you’ve followed those who put their tree up in November lol. This isn’t just you it’s many people who’s been doing it over the years, then making posts somewhere online telling everyone how great they think they are for taking their tree down early. It’s for validation definitely!
I have a huge issue with attention seekers yes 🤪

Did you put your tree up in November. I think people who put decorations up early must be sick of them by now.

Did you read my updates?

tinytemper66 · 26/12/2024 18:32

Everyone is different. My tree went up on Dec 8th and will come down on 1st. I am away from 2nd-5th and back in school on 6th. I hate coming home from work in January and seeing the tree etc. it always comes down before we go back for the spring term.

fanaticalfairy · 26/12/2024 18:32

Can't be arsed with taking it down on Boxing Day. It's enough effort to get up, sort gifts - finding homes for things, keeping enough of the new toys out etc, seeing more family etc.

Ours will come down probably on Saturday or Sunday.

Yes. Still seeking validation imo lol

You started a thread stating you’d taken your Xmas decorations down then made some excuse it’s because you bought a new tree / lights or whatever so you put your tree up early and you was the 3rd on your street. Why even make a thread about it? lol

happinessischocolate · 26/12/2024 18:38

God I hate this me first mentality, can't you just relax and enjoy Christmas without wanting to tidy everything away and do a bloody deep clean 🤷‍♀️

vickylou78 · 26/12/2024 18:45

It's only day 2 of Christmas! Why even bother putting up a tree for two days?!

By the same token, why make a thread about anything? Lol.

I’ve read them all, you seem simply unable to compute what I am saying. As you’re atheists you don’t celebrate Christmas any more than you celebrate Eid or Diwali.

I’m not telling you how to celebrate it as you don’t celebrate it. You have some traditional winter activities with your family which sound fun.

I'll be enjoying all my hard work decorating it and the house for the 12 days of Christmas 🎄

This 💯
