I have major health anxiety, I’m on antidepressants to try and help which sometimes does and doestimes doesn’t.

10 days ago my throat really started to hurt, instead of thinking it’s just a sore throat like most of the population I panicked. I found in my medicine cupboard a pack of Penicillin that were prescribed and not taken a few months back. In my anxious state I took one as I thought if I had a throat infection then I need antibiotics. A couple of hours later I realised how stupid I was and got rid of the medication and never took anymore. Anyway over the last couple of days roughly 8-9 days after taking it I’ve developed quite intense itching down there and I’m wondering if that one tablet could have caused thrush?

any advice please?

It's unlikely that one tablet 10 days ago would cause Thrush, although depends on the dosage. Much more likely that a combination of your immune system being in overdrive due to your sore throat and stress from your anxiety has caused it.

Perhaps you should revisit your GP in the New Year and see if further support is available for your anxiety.

You can buy thrush cream in most supermarkets and pharmacies, it's very treatable so don't panic. And don't beat yourself up about it. You realised your mistake and discarded the remaining antibiotics

Advice is to see your go for your anxiety. Don't hoard medication you don't need. Why did you have the abs in the
