For me it’s how disgusting it is to wash dishes in a sink or basin full of water. It turns my stomach a bit. The dishes have to be washed in fresh, running water.

Dogs also kill wildlife and are a danger to biodiversity, and also carry rabies.
And, they are unclean animals. They don't wash themselves and don't bury their droppings and will stop and literally shit smack bang in the middle of a footpath. Dogs have no sense of propriety.

Cats have a purpose - they keep the mice population under control. Without them, we'd be back to the Bubonic Plague days. Dogs really have no purpose at all.

  1. all mammals can carry rabies. including cats. There is a vaccine, which is required for cats as well as dogs. https://www.gov.uk/bring-pet-to-great-britain/rabies-vaccination-and-boosters

  2. the bubonic plague was spread by fleas living on rats, not mice. Dog breeds such as the jack russell were specifically bred as ratters (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratter_(dog)).
In contrast, "cats find rats to be large and formidable prey, and so they preferentially hunt defenseless wildlife such as lizards and songbirds instead. Scientists and conservationists oppose the use of cats as a form of rodent control because they are so inefficient at destroying pest species that the harm they do to native species in the process outweighs any benefit" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_predation_on_wildlife

  3. Bubonic plague still exists, but as a bacterial illness it is now easily treated with antibiotics.

  4. dogs have many purposes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_dog

Dogs do have many purposes, but the vast majority are just pets.

Clearly you know nothing about dogs if you think they are unclean and don't wash themselves. They do. I've had a multi-dog, multi-cat household for years and the cats are far more work as regards toileting and vomiting.

To say dogs have no purpose at all is absurd! There are no guide cats, we don't see farmers using Siamese to herd the sheep or Birman retrieving game - you wouldn't leave a Maine Coon to protect sheep against wolves and bears 😆

You say dogs kill wildlife, then contradict this by stating that cats keep mice under control. So it's fine for cats to kill but dogs shouldn't...? You'll also find that Bubonic plague is connected to rats not mice and terriers are far more effective ratters than any cat.

It might be that they're considered "unclean" in a religious or cultural way.

Although dogs have some pretty disgusting habits, like what they're willing to eat and roll in. 🤣

Justleaveitblankthen · 26/12/2024 08:45

@Idyllicday
If a dog is only walked on pavements, they are obviously going to 💩 where they have to.

Dogs that go on 4 hour rambles in the country will find a discreet, grassy knoll away from the main path as they are 'vulnerable from attack' and don't scent mark this way.

My working dogs clean theirselves as often and efficiently as my cats do 😻

It is wrong to eat animals or any products that come from them.

This one!

Eating animals and animal products is unnecessary, cruel and wrong

Sorry just saw you said it first 👍

Dogs need baths, they don't wash themselves. On the other hand cats don't require bathes.

Some dogs do wash like a cat - ours always have, and we never need to bath them. We have had to properly bath two of our cats though, after they did a wee in the carrier on a vet trip.

Children are encouraged to grow up too quickly.

People become resilient and independent young adults from having their needs met in childhood.

Dogs do not have the cleaning ingredient in their saliva which is why they need regular baths. Dogs 'bite' at fleas, but they cannot wash themselves though. This is just fact.

This has not been my experience at all in 60 years with cats and dogs. All my dogs have washed themselves.

Dogs do not carry rabies in the UK.

rabies was eliminated from all animals except bats in 1922.

my terrier is a much better mouser/ratter than my cat.

TitaniasAss · 26/12/2024 09:55

Also, I love my cats, but I really don't love the half eaten birds that they bring in and leave on my bed. At least my dog doesn't do that ...

How do you know this and what are you basing this belief on?

Traditional gender role relationships are happier.

If they're by choice. Forcing a woman into 'traditional' gender roles won't make her happier.

Women are less happy than men – a psychologist on why and four things you can do about it

Why 60 years of feminism has not made women any happier

Based on real life observations. Also based on how many women on here are absolutely miserable, moaning about work, their jobs having to juggle kids etc. There is a post a minute.

I don’t think traditional gender roles are the answer (or good for society). Seems to be having kids that makes women miserable.

Compash · 26/12/2024 12:12

Sport is boring. Or at least anything that involves a pseudo-battle over a ball. Ones with horses or an element of grace are better.

Yeah, if traditional roles were so great, then why did women fight for their rights and want to change things?

Wasn't it awesome when we couldn't have our own bank accounts, and couldn't vote? 🙄

The problem is that a lot of men haven't stepped up to the plate and worked in partnership.

The first article does not really refer to „”traditional” roles, as being a source of greater happiness. it’s about general self care, given that a woman in a relationship, and with children, carry the greater burden of child care, domestic responsibilities, the emotional load and everything inbetween, generally speaking more so than men. No wonder they need to focus on greater self care.

The second article is an opinion piece. It’s not research or fact?

What are your real life observations? Are you talking from actual experience- are you a „”traditional” house wife?

Feminism, at its core, is about treating women as equal human beings to men. Feminism has not made women more miserable, it’s given them greater agency over their lives, more choice, more freedoms and an entire litany of other things - how can that ever be a bad thing?

Bluevelvetsofa · 26/12/2024 12:29

People who treat animals like children and use prams for them should be banned from keeping them
